She just got home and said there was one car that hit 4 cars , crossed the yellow line .

I think about that possibility when I cross the bridge. What if somebody crosses that yellow line? There's no way to avoid the collision if it happens. Hopefully everyone is ok.

nobody really

that happened on the benedict bridge years ago - a flatbed came loose off the truck it was attached to and went into the westbound lane. hit a car, decapitated the driver. I couldn't even imagine seeing that coming and not having anyplace to go.

A friend of mine was in one of the vehicles that got hit when the at-fault car crossed the center line. Broke the wheel axle, and deployed the airbag. Thank God he's okay!

And people wonder why I'm scared to death of bridges.

That had nothing to do with the bridge, the idiot could have done the same thing on any two lane road in the county. And some of these roads have no shoulders to escape someone crossing the yellow line, like Flat Iron Road.

If the bridge induces anxiety in the average driver then the bridge very much has at least something to do with it. Obviously, it bothers us differently, person to person. If you still say it ain't the bridge, imagine driving across it with NO retaining walls on either side. At speed. In traffic. In the rain. At night.

If you are extraordinary and that idea didn't bother you, at all, then, good for you. Nothing much bothers me and I am all too happy to cross any bridge on my motorcycle in traffic but, it's not beyond me to see how bridges still bother people.

Yep. It was off of a Wentworth Nursery truck.
