ACCIDENTS KEEP PILING UP

I saw the college facilities assessing the damage early the other morning and I've been trying to figure out WTF happened every time I passed that footbridge since because there was only a little damage on Rt 5's side, yet half the bridge's guardrail was missing on the other side :shocking:
So coming south on 5, if you draw a straight line from that last turn before the bridge, you get that. They entered the bridge right at the north end and traveled on it until the exited on the side away from the road.

Good news! Most of the cats were not hurt and the place has a new drive in!

I think he actually went airborne rather than riding down the pedestrian bridge. Is that bridge wide enough for a vehicle?

A better question is why absolutely no one is calling for the Sherrif to do anything about it?
What is the Sheriff, and his Deputies, supposed to do?
Every single time any department starts doing traffic enforcement anywhere the bitching and complaining never ends.
Bottom line is that police agencies don't really prevent crime, any crime, except by accident. They're report generators after the fact 99.9% of the time.
My new car was whacked in front of our house on Sunday. I didn't even bother to call the Sheriff for a report because they only respond to accidents now that block the road or have injuries. Drive on any major road in the State, especially in the northern tier, and there are signs that tell you if you're in a fender bender to just get the information and not call 911.

Pretty sad, isn't it? If only people would hold lawmakers and law enforcement accountable....

Very specifically, what should they do that they are not doing?
Traffic enforcement. Patrolling the roads. Pulling over unsafe or aggressive drivers. I see them all the time parked and sitting door-to-door for coffee and conversation but apparently they have no time to do this. Hell, I have seen people drive unsafe and racing through intersections in turn only lanes, passing at unsafe speeds, driving through red lights... all of this right in front of LEO vehicles. Nothing done about it.
