NBC article providing cover for Baldwin made a bizarre reference to Hunt for Red October

"If you swap out the idea of guns on a set for something else, though, the relative responsibility between the actor and the crew becomes clearer. Consider one of Baldwin’s other films, “The Hunt for Red October,” a thriller about nuclear submarines. Imagine the script called for an actor on the set of the submarine’s bridge to push a red button. But instead of prop missiles on the submarine, a crew member thought it would be more realistic to use actual Soviet-era SS-20 ballistic missiles connected to that red button. When the actor pushes the button, he’s shocked when it actually launches the missiles, causing catastrophic harm."

Was that an actual submarine in the movie or a movie set .?

Has anyone said why a live round was in a prop gun in the first place? One would think a prop gun would never be loaded with real ammo, because why would it be?

Nope. Not yet. But then again, there should never be real live ammunition on a film production set to begin with since they are never used.

As in the case of Brandon Lee they wanted to show the bullets, they removed the charge from the shell but not the primer, it made the bullet go into the barrel a little, they never removed it, they then put in a blank with a full charge, that full charge propelled the projectile in the barrel to kill him.

It' seems they have no protocols, just someone to handle it. They should have a check list they do every time, but it doesnt appear they do.

Poetic Justice............ Trump pays millions to a lawyer to prosecute Baldwin on the dead womans families behalf for manslaughter and wins.

He was always such a prick to him on SNL so call it fair play. 😁

Ahhhh. Usually guns have loaded ammo, So someone could get shot or killed.
Winner on both counts.

Playing with guns is not smart.
They were not filming, they were just standing around talking and the ass whole was playing with the gun.
You never play with a gun, whether it is known to be empty or not.
It's just something every intelligent gun owner knows.

And the first rule, the very first rule is never point any gun at something you do not want to shoot.
By the way the gun did not misfire. It worked exactly the way it was supposed to.

New Mexico manslaughter law
30-2-3. Manslaughter.
Manslaughter is the unlawful killing of a human being without malice.

A. Voluntary manslaughter consists of manslaughter committed upon a sudden quarrel or in the heat of passion.
Whoever commits voluntary manslaughter is guilty of a third degree felony resulting in the death of a human being.

B. Involuntary manslaughter consists of manslaughter committed in the commission of an unlawful act not amounting to felony, or in the commission of a lawful act which might produce death in an unlawful manner or without due caution and circumspection.

Whoever commits involuntary manslaughter is guilty of a fourth degree felony.
It is obvious that there was no "due caution or circumspection" on the part of Baldwin, the director that handed him the weapon or the armorer that failed to make it a "cold" weapon.

Like I posted upthread, if I were to hand you a handgun and told you its unloaded and safe, would you check it first before you stuck it in your temple and pulled the trigger?

Its a very interesting law, lets see how it all shakes out with Alex's decades of handling of firearms with the District Attorney's Office with what charges are filed or not filed..
Alex broke a few of the basic firearm rules.
And the civil suits will be costly to a few folks.
