LEONARDTOWN, MD – Superintendent of Schools, Dr. J. Scott Smith, announces the administrative appointments made by the Board of Education at its meeting of July 24, 2019.
The Board appointed Ms. Paola Laino as Director in the Department of Design and Construction. Ms. Laino holds a Master’s degree from The Catholic University of America and Universidad Del Norte and a Bachelor’s degree from Universidad Autónoma del Caribe. She currently serves as a Project Management Coordinator in the Department of Design and Construction.
Ms. Laino’s appointment is effective retroactive to July 8, 2019.
Ms. Denise Mandis has been appointed as Principal of Captain Walter Francis Duke Elementary School. Ms. Mandis holds both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree from George Mason University. She currently serves as Supervisor of Instruction for Academy Programs, Library Media and Advanced Placement in the Department of Assessment and Accountability.
Mr. Joshua Lynch has been appointed as Principal of Mechanicsville Elementary School. Mr. Lynch holds a Master’s degree from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland and a Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University. Mr. Lynch currently serves as an Assistant Principal at Evergreen Elementary School.
Ms. Lisa Dean has been appointed as Supervisor of Special Education (Grant Funded), 12 month, in the Department of Special Education. Ms. Dean holds a Master’s degree from West Virginia University and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina. Ms. Dean currently serves as an Autism Instructional Resource Teacher in the Department of Special Education.
These appointments will become effective July 29, 2019.
Ms. Jennifer Martin has been appointed as Assistant Principal (Grant Funded), 11 month, at Green Holly Elementary School. Ms. Martin holds a Master’s degree from Walden University and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of West Florida. Ms. Martin currently serves as an Instructional Resource Teacher at Benjamin Banneker Elementary School.
Ms. Cynthia Fletcher has been appointed as Assistant Principal, 11 month, at Green Holly Elementary School. Ms. Fletcher holds a Master’s degree from the State University of New York: College at Geneseo and a Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York: College at Brockport. Ms. Fletcher currently serves as an IEP Facilitator and Mentor for New Teachers at Green Holly Elementary School.
Ms. Jessica Bosse has been appointed as Assistant Principal, 11 month, at George Washington Carver Elementary School. Ms. Bosse holds a Master’s degree from Notre Dame of Maryland University and a Bachelor’s degree from Towson University. Ms. Bosse currently serves as an English Teacher at Chopticon High School.
Ms. Evelyn Sweeney has been appointed as Assistant Principal, 11 month, at Lexington Park Elementary School. Ms. Sweeney holds a Master’s degree from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland and a Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Nazarene College. Ms. Sweeney currently serves as an Instructional Resource Teacher at Lexington Park Elementary School.
