Ok Computer people I need some advice. My friend has a small business and he asked me to try to advertise for him online. I am no good when it comes to stuff like this. I am trying to figure out where to put his information, like maybe in the classifieds, but I don't look there when I am trying to find a glass shop. I thought about making a web page then that will allow people who search find it, but I don't know how. Any Advice????

Why, you should advertise on www.somd.com - they even give you statistics each month!

I think doing a web page is an excellent idea - if he advertises with superpages.com (the yellow pages), he can put his web address there. Almost everyone I know uses superpages...

You can put an ad in the St. Mary's College of Maryland newspaper - there are "starving students" there who can put together AWESOME sites for very little expense. They can also register the page with search engines. They usually have web pages for you to view so you can see the quality of their work.

Good luck! :howdy:

Thanks, I'll Check them out. I made a page once, in Yahoo. Couldn't really do much with it though. Just put a couple pics on it Which Might work for his site, But I never figured out how to register with a search engine

Does he have a shop or is he just a guy who comes around and fixes stuff?

Anyway, to get you started we offer free listings. Just go to http://somd.com/cgi-bin/add.cgi and fill out the information. You get a name, address and contact information in one category only. For $300/year you can upgrade to the handy dandy Budget Business Package, which gets you the listing PLUS a paragraph about the business and links in all pertinent categories instead of just one.

When and if he gets a website, you can include a link to it in your Budget Business Package for an extra $100/year OR you can upgrade to the Standard Package for $75/month, which adds up to 3 banners that rotate through the whole somd.com realm of life.

He has a shop. He started off working for local glass companies over the years, then started mobile sidework. He had his own shop in Capital Heights for about a year then a couple months ago relocated to Brandywine where he shares a shop with a mechanic. They have a great set-up now. I know the Mechanic he shares the shop with, he is the only guy I go to. So now it's one shop the does classic car restoration, auto body, mechanical, glasswork, electronics.

Somewhat but not really. I have them on my Magnum and I am not like them little Yo boy's. Graphics help give your car a little personality, I know a few others that got them done that range in age from 30-55. All in what everyone likes I guess. I was going to leave my Magnum plain, then we got bored one day in his shop and stuck some extras on.

you can register a domain name through Yahoo for $4.95 a year right now. I've done that and am using their web site builder to create a site. I'm not much on creating web pages, but it's working pretty well for me.

GoDaddy is the best for domain name registration

A website is a great idea, but it must be designed with the search engines in mind. Here is a complete solution: EASY BUTTON
