can anyone tell me, how long does it generally take for some of the after effects of childbirth to subside? I'd REALLY like to be able to wear my wedding ring again but my hands are still a bit swollen. does this pass or do I need to get my ring resized?

Only time will tell... I'd give it a few more months before I'd resize my ring if I were you. Let's just hope your husband isn't anything like the pharmacist on "Deperate Housewives"...:twitch:

We are all soooo naive as to how much time a baby actually takes out of one's day before we actually have our first. I remember getting my very first PC for the home while I was pregnant with my first. I got one loaded with several programming applications. I figured with 8 weeks off for maternity leave and a new baby that will just sleep all the time, I could learn to code in all sorts of applications in my free time. :jet:

Sadly, I didn't get one of those cabbage patch babies either. I can remember when my husband came through the door from the night shift, he found me and the 4-day baby in the rocking chair --- both crying.

OMG I definately remember times like those... it got even worse when I decided to add a 2nd child to the mix then had a newborn AND a 2 1/2 year old to deal with. At least with only one you get a chance to sleep when the baby sleeps, even if it is for 1 or 2 hour increments... that's not possible with a toddler on the move...:bawl:

Everyone is different and every woman's body will adjust at her own speed. It took about 55 minutes (of pushing) for me.

What do you expect when pushing out #6...:duh: I'm thinking your current bun in the oven will end up falling out without you even noticing... good think it will come equipped with a bungie cord. :yay:

It's my observation that it takes on average 18 years before "some" of the after effects are gone.

With every pregnancy, a person is different.........I was able to walk out of the hospital in a pair of my pre-prego pants with #1 and had very little problems with swelling of my hands and feet. Now as far as #2 is concerned.......taking awhile

yeah yeah
As many have said, from what I understand - everyone is different. I would give it at least a 3 mth period before you resize anything. Can you get a nice necklace to hang your rings on? I have had to do that since about 6 mths pregnant.
