Just goes to show how truly out of touch with reality the denizens of Washington DC are.

Trump can conceivably lock the nomination, period - by next Tuesday. At that point, it doesn't matter - he's a lock at least until the convention.
At which point, Haley just isn't worth the money her donors are supplying. HE can campaign as though for the general - but she would be just spinning her wheels, because at that point -

1. She has no chance of getting enough delegates and
2. She will lose donors, because people just don't throw away money
3. She will never get the #2 spot.
4. She will have pissed off so many Trump voters - and DELEGATES - and super delegates - it doesn't matter if he gets abducted by aliens. Trump NOT getting the nomination by some strange twist of fate will NOT gain her anything.

I still think she is just staying in to win if Trump goes to jail.

Except - it doesn't work like that. If he gets the most delegates - he is the nominee, period, even if he drops dead - you don't get anything for coming in second. At the convention, if he is not the nominee on the first ballot - all bets are off - and the delegates choose whomever they like.

And it won't - be - her. She's persona non grata now. She's actually campaigned on the idea that DEMS might vote for her.

Oh, I agree. I just think that's what she is thinking.

Washington, D.C., is 100% urban and a relatively high proportion of residents hold a college degree. The core of Trump's base skews rural, and he is particularly strong in areas with low educational attainment.

They are clearly stating that D.C. didn't vote for Trump because they aren't uneducated rubes, and yet DC has the highest percentage of population in any US territory of students that can't read or do math at a 4th grade level (only 17 percent) according to the US Department of Education (https://www2.ed.gov/about/reports/annual/state-of-states/index.html). They are third from dead last on how many of their students graduate from high school.

So when they tell you how educated DC people are, remember it's almost 100% transplants as people born and raised in DC apparently don't learn to read or do math above a 4th grade level (which is still somehow good enough for 60% to graduate high school and many to go to college). And these DC kids still somehow get accepted into college and get degrees, but let's not speculate on WHY they are accepted to college without being able to read or do basic arithmetic.

It's like when they say big cities have less crime when they decide to classify nothing as a crime and not arrest anyone.

So - less than 2000 people show up to the DC Republican primary. Since the votes were not all cast in the same place, I can only imagine how boring this was.

That was the line that got me.

Voting for Haley means you are smart and educated

Voting for Trump means you are uneducated and stupid.

If anything has shattered the legitimacy of their pompous claims, of intellectual and educational superiority, it’s been the last seven years.
