Show me where Carrie Underwood isn't marketable! She's a one woman country music powerhouse. I disliked her on the show, but she was the only marketable artist from that season (which has been proven, because my boy Constantine has done jack musically since then, despite releasing his own CD).

Kelly Clarkson had a huge success with her first album after she got out of her AI contract. This last album bombed, but it wasn't due to poor music, only to poor publicity.
