Half of academy sex assaults were Air Force

"The Air Force Academy accounted for nearly half of all sex assaults examined by a new Defense Department report on sexual violence at military academies.

The report scrutinized the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., the Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md., and the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. From all three academies, 40 sexual assaults were reported from June 2006 to May of this year. They included rape, sodomy, indecent assault and attempts to commit those offenses.

Of the 19 sex assaults reported to Air Force Academy officials, seven involved rape, two involved sodomy — defined as “forcible oral or anal sex” — and 10 involved indecent assault, defined as “unwanted sexual contact or fondling.” Air Force Academy Vice Commandant Col. Gail Colvin said the assaults were not all cadet-on-cadet cases and that several reports involved incidents off campus."

Women should have never been in these academy's in the first place.

Its no surprise that horny young men of 19-25 try to get in their pants.

I have no excuses for these men however, what they did was wrong, still its a problem that shouldnt exist.

In the "all volunteer" force women have every right to serve our nation and attend the academies. I served with many fine female officers and NCOs.

As to those that carried out these acts they are reprehensible and demeaning to all those that serve honorably.

Though I do see it as validation of that old axiom that it takes an act of Congress to make an officer a gentleman. :sarcasm:
