I'm for freedom of speech, which means people should be able to assemble and speak without being shouted down."

And the libs call republicans neanderthals. . .

He was "protecting freedom of speech" by stifling the opinion of another person. Hmmmm. Who's the idiot now, Al?

How positively Democrat! Someone heckles your political candidate so you protect that candidate's right to free speech by physically attacking the heckler, thereby denying that person's right to free speech.

Violent Democrat scum.

Al Franken finally, after all these years, did something positive. All hecklers should be body slammed. Maybe even stomped on.

And do it like Franken did, sneak up on them from behind.

I would have at least gotten two-points for a reversal on a dumb-ass take down like the one that he used.

You a heckler? Argumentive, yes but I didn't picture you stooping to heckling. Hecklers should be banned.

"I would have done it if he was a Dean supporter at a Kerry rally," he said.

He most definitely would have done it if it was a Bush supporter at any rally.

"I'm neutral in this race but I'm for freedom of speech, which means people should be able to assemble and speak without being shouted down."

Is that what Freedom of Speech means? I must have misinterpreted it then. Freedom of Speech does not mean freedom from hecklers.

And what about the guy he knocked down? What about his freedom of speech?

Al Franken is a completely out of control hypocritical scumbag.

He's for freedom of speech, alright. As long as its speech he agrees with. What a tool.

Freedom of speech has nothing to do with it and Franken is a jerk but it's common courtesy. During the State of the Union speech if Kennedy had of gotten his drunken azz off that chair and interrupted the prez I'd think that would also deserve a body slam.

Common curtesy indeed. The heckler is a complete tool. I agree.

However, the last time I looked, common curtesy is not required by law, nor is it a constitutional right.

The freedom of speech, on the other hand, is.

On another note, I'll bet Bill O'Reilly is creaming in his panties right now.

Argumentative? Moi? :killingme You're right, I wouldn't heckle and I certainly wouldn't tackle someone that was. If I did, I wouldn't be sneaking up behind them. That was cowardly and, as pointed out, a direct assault. If played right by a zealous lawyer, a civil rights violation and a nice civil suit to boot. Hell, heckling could be a moneymaker.

Al, break out that checkbook.

Excellent observation Ken! I don't understand why he was not arrested for assault. Franken is little more than a left-wing bomb thrower. I've heard allegations that he is funded by the DNC.

I have no time for bomb throwers-whether they be left wing or right wing. I would say that Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh are good examples of extremists on the right.

I prefer news analysts who actually analyze--Tim Russert, Allan Combs, Chris Matthews, & Bill O'Reilly. I also enjoy listening to Gordon Liddy. Despite his Watergate legacy, he is very intelligent and well-spoken.

Good post, except that I'm even more picky than you are. I don't want news analysts to have any obvious political affiliation. Commentators are paid to have opinions, but analysts are still journalists and should leave that stuff at home.

They were talking about the Paula Zahn bit (http://frankenlies.com/zahncnn.htm) over at the DU. The general consensus is that Sexy Paula is a right-wing zealot who should be fired for bias.

Let's see here: Franken lies. Zahn questions him about it. SHE is the bad person. Very similar to: Clinton commits a crime. Starr investigates it. Starr is the bad person.

This is what we're dealing with here.
