If you’re driving on route 4 in Calvert today, have your ‘mit and stregeration in your left hand prepared to display them. If you don’t have em pretend you aren’t bi-lingual.

No kidding, had to go up to Dunkirk to pick up the "new to me" Kobalt 80v snow blower, and man, I saw 5-6 people pulled over. Not making anyone any safer, but man, he can show the sh%$ out of his stormtroopers. eh?

That's pretty bad calling the Calvert County Deputies storm troopers what did they ever do to you to get that attitude.

I had one ask me if I had an attitude problem - I guess because I wasn't cheerful enough or offer to stroke his balls for giving me a ticket.

And all of them get pissy when I won't answer "Where are you coming from?" or "Where are you going?"

It's an appearance thing. Never interacted with them personally. They are all done up in full tacticool like they are storming a crack house when they are running radar on RT 4.

Was yesterday as well. Driving north past Dunkirk, about 8am, everyone driving safely, at normal morning speeds. Deputy Storm Trooper must have been doing his "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe" routine, because the car he chased after and pulled over, after himself, dangerously and recklessly, speeding and weaving in and out of traffic to catch up to the car, after he shot out from being parked from a stop at one of the side streets, was doing exactly as everyone else. That deputy caused far more potential danger to traffic, than the whole of the safely traveling road full of cars.

Good 'ole boy Sheriff Mike Evans has turned the Sheriff's Office into a Gestapo styled tactical force. There is no honor in what much of what he, and his deputy minions do on a daily basis. Take away most deputies shinny star and their firearm, and they turn right back into the cowards they are. But give them the "Power"? With the knowledge that they will never see repercussions from their actions, and viola! Storm Trooper Gestapo mentality.

I travel back & forth through PF on Route 4 daily and north to Dunkirk or south to Lusby at least once a week, and have never run afoul of the Calvert County Sheriff's department. :sshrug:

I have never gotten a traffic ticket. That will be on my tombstone. 65, and counting. I did get stopped back in the day in front of St. Leonard FD. That was a speed trap in that short road all the time I lived there. The officer saw the Calvert Hospital Emergency Room light blue volunteer smock I was wearing, and sent me on my way. The officer said to me...you can go. I said thanks. No ticket. :diva:And, I was an election volunteer at that location for years. That was interesting, for sure.

And, I think that anyone that chooses to become LE is equivalent to signing up for the military. Putting your life on the line when you don’t have to is very courageous. In other words, how do they know when they approach a car, who they are dealing with? We have seen LE get killed for doing their job that they volunteered to do. The epitome of brave. No difference in volunteering for the military. And, yes, there will always be some bad apples, no matter what group is being talked about. Way of the World.

I, usually, like what you have to say, and you make me laugh, but you are wrong this time.

I've not had the pleasure of meeting any of Mike Evans' fine patrolmen, but I can't remember the last time I was in Calvert. I may go there 1/2 dozen times a year. I like that y'all have the Trailer Parts store and hope they continue to make enough money to stay open. I read the article the GH posted, very informative. I'd like to add my 2 cents.

Inattentive drivers cause accidents. People need to educate their prodigy that the proper use of a motor vehicle requires 100% attention to the task of navigating that thing from point A to point B. Phone calls will wait. Time doesn't stop when you're tooling down the road to 60+, just because you think what Jenny is wearing to the club is worth risking your life and the lives of those around you.

If cell phone usage is what the deputies are enforcing on Route 4, I'm all for it.

Is it though? I would love for that to be true, but I've not heard anything saying that might be true. I also have never met any of the CCSO offficers, never been pulled over there. But I do know that the crashes on RT 4 are all failure to yield, not speed. Barring high speed chases and that one officer who center-punched that girl by outdriving his lights and siren. Oddly Sheriff Mike never proclaims that he's cracking down on failure to yield.

As with you, IDK what they're enforcing. I just know that cell phones are a major distraction and pray that I and my loved ones are never at the receiving end of an inattentive driver. I didn't have to tell my kids about cell phone usage while driving. Thank God they have the good sense not to text/talk while driving.

One reason I got them loving that stick shift life :) I see it all the time, people watching videos, using both hands to type, resting the phone on the steering wheel. Got so I can spot them from behind with a +90% certainty. If they are enforcing this, it's not apparent. Time to start doing that and shaming the folks doing it before they kill someone. It needs the same social opprobrium as DWI.
