Revelation 8:9 After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. 10 And they cried out in a loud voice:
“Salvation belongs to our God,
who sits on the throne,
and to the Lamb.”
11 All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying:
“Amen!
Praise and glory
and wisdom and thanks and honor
and power and strength
be to our God for ever and ever.
Amen!”
13 Then one of the elders asked me, “These in white robes—who are they, and where did they come from?”
14 I answered, “Sir, you know.”
And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 Therefore,
“they are before the throne of God
and serve him day and night in his temple;
and he who sits on the throne
will shelter them with his presence.
16 ‘Never again will they hunger;
never again will they thirst.
The sun will not beat down on them,’
nor any scorching heat.

17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne
will be their shepherd;
‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’
‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’”
The commentary talks about the diversity of the multitude, saying it proves the Gospel was preached around the world. I have to admit, however, the first thing that came to mind was "these are the multitude murdered in WWIII".

This is from the commentary.

Then one of the elders answered: It was important that John knew the identity of this great multitude. But he didn’t know that he should ask, so one of the elders prompted him to ask.

These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation: This vast multitude, from every tribe and tongue and nation, are those rescued for God’s kingdom in the period of the great tribulation.

Imagine a crowd... shoulder to shoulder... all dressed in clean clothes.... fresh from healing after being mutilated in war or devastated by disease.... shoulder to shoulder... everywhere as far as the eye can see and further.... and all of them are shouting "three cheers for God and His Son, Jesus the Messiah".

Imagine a crowd so big you can't even guestimate the number... all agreeing, not only on the cause... but what to say! They were all saying the same thing. They were all in agreement. There is not one tiny squabble in the crowd.

Imagine a crowd so large... standing shoulder to shoulder as far as the eye can see... totally healed... no more bullet wounds... no more sword slices... no more cancer... no more flu... no more missing limbs... no more blind eyes.... no more limping.... no more addiction.... no more depression or PTSD.

Imagine a crowd so large... standing shoulder to shoulder as far as the eye can see... and notice the children running and playing and singing "Jesus Loves Me". Children.... having fun... sincere, happy, carefree, fun.... and then notice that everyone has that same childlike expression... no more sadness and no more tears. No more hiding in fallout shelters or being shot in school. Everyone... everyone in the crowd too large to see, let alone count... is a child again.... A child of God.

All of the Christian Souls are gathered in one place. The 144,000 have been drafted for the army that will follow Jesus into war. Everyone, everywhere, further than the eye can see is in agreement. There is no second guessing the mission of this army or Jesus, their leader.

No one is derogatory. No one is taking another side. Everyone is in agreement. No one is debating the usefulness of war. No one is debating the qualifications of the Messiah. Everyone, everywhere, further than the eye can see is in agreement.

All the Souls who were crying out "How much longer, Lord?" have the answer they have been crying out for.

Imagine a crowd so large... standing shoulder to shoulder further than the eye can see.... and all of them are happy with every decision God and His Son, Jesus the Messiah has made on their behalf.

Imagine that crowd!

All healed and happy!
