Almost ONE?!?

Well, next week my sweet little baby will be ELEVEN months old which means he'll be ONE, that's a WHOLE YEAR OLD, in just over a month. Where does the time go?? :frown:

So, of course I'm thinking "birthday party". Our house is too small so we're having it at the community center in our neighborhood...it's really nice. I want to do a cute theme and have some ideas but I thought you guys might think of something I haven't come up with. Or, you might think one of my ideas is completely stupid

Cute as a Button: I saw some cute invitations "cute as a button and so much fun, our sweet little baby is turning one", we could have cupcakes with chocolate/candy buttons, button cookies, birthday hats decorated with buttons, etc

In a Flash: This would be a picture type theme. I could have pictures of his first year hanging on a line, maybe set up a little photo type booth (nothing crazy, I'm "making" this LOL), I'll make a time capsule to include things from his first year and notes from everyone at his first birthday party (I might do this regardless of what "theme" we do).

Winter ONEderland: Think snowflakes, snowmen, s'mores, hot chocolate, red, white and turquoise.

Though I'm sure most any theme can be taylored to the childs age, I think some of the other ideas I was thinking of would be better for when he's a little older...crayons/colors, milk & cookies, little squirt, dr. suess., candyland, circus, etc.

I'm ready to plan a party!

I kind of like the Winter Onederland theme better and you can still incorporate the pictures, but both are cute ideas. I haven't done a one-year-old party in 12 years, so I wouldn't know what to tell you except whatever you do, please do not expect the adults to wear those pointy party hats.

Can't believe he is almost 1!!

I like both ideas! And he really is cute as a button :yay: The winter onderland one is cute but after Christmas, people are sick of looking at all the winter-themed things and such.

Oh they will wear them and they will LOVE them! :lmao: j/k!!

I like the Winter Onderland theme because of the "One" thing BUT he can't really 'enjoy' the 'wintery' stuff that I imagine would make it extra awesome. Maybe I can do that in a few years?? Though it obviously couldn't be a ONEderland party, which basically sucks

Dammit, I was really hoping the first comment would be something like "OMG I love love LOVE the buttons idea" ((womp womp)) :lmao:

Thank you! See, he IS cute as a button so it fits

I have no doubts that he's cute as a button, but what FUN is a button, reminds me of a choking hazard and not much fun to play with:shrug: JMO

What fun is a button? What fun is a button?? WHAT FUN IS A BUTTON?! :lmao:

While I do agree, I wouldn't have lose buttons laying around. This is the site I found with that idea: big K little k: {keniston's 1st birthday party} - cute as a button

I feel like I'm "routing" for the button theme, haha...but I'm good with either of the 3 ideas I mentioned, or maybe another idea. I really REALLY like the Winter ONEderland theme, I'm just thinking that I might want to do something like that in a few years when he can partake in the hot chocolate and melty marshmallow fun and I don't want to have the same type of party in a such a short time. I'm a weirdo, I know

Okay, Okay, rock your button idea...sheesh. We did a giant GIANT cupcake smash for my sons birthday and got a photographer, yeah, that was fun for about a minute.

If you doing it in the building by big blue, that is nice a nice place for a party. We had our son's graduation party there. One word of advice, lock the front doors, we had kids wandering in and trying to join the party.

I'm so not a parent. The smash cake makes me :twitch:

:lmao:

However, I think the Winter Onederland theme is awesome.

But since you have your heart set on the buttons theme, do it. But if you are inviting non-parents, make sure they know that doesn't mean they should bring your kid a bunch of buttons as a present. I'm pretty sure it's a choking hazard. :lmao:

Congrats on your little man turning 1! He's going to be driving before you know it.

Really? That's crazy! I'll keep that in mind, thanks! And yup, that's where I mean. My nephew's 1st birthday party was there a couple years ago and it was awesome. I love the set up and his birthday's in July so we were able to use the patio too...it was such a perfect day for him  I'm not sure when you went but it was remodeled last year/earlier this year (I'm losing track of time, lol) and it's really nice looking...the finishes are all really amazing. Pshhh they better be for what we're paying in association fees  but annnnnyway, that's where we're having our lil guy's party :yay:

Driving?! Why would you do that to me? Why?? :frown:

Oh I love the smash cake idea! Haha, it's cute...but I'm weird so yeah

I love the Winter Onederland theme too, I just want to do that same sort of party 'idea' in a few years (maybe a little more than a few) when he can enjoy things like hot chocolate, blue punch, s'mores, yogurt covered strawberries (frozen) that look like little snowballs and decorating 'winter shaped' cookies with all the kids

And I don't think we have any non-parents, or anyone that doesn't have children around them often enough to know not to give buttons to a one year old

Nobody mentioned the "In a Flash" idea....bad one? Or do I even want to muddy the waters with another option??

It was July 2011 when we had his graduation party, they had just finished the inside of the building. We were the only ones in the building when the door opened and 4 kids came walking in. We chased them out then a little later 3 other teens came walking in. We had a few words with the teens before they left. That is when we locked the front doors to the building.

That's so weird. I'll make sure the doors are locked
