Alright, LOOK people, Smurf is a kid, and a nice kid at that. His DAD wants a dog, and he's decided to try to find one "for him". They are GOOD people, so don't go picking on the kid. I'm sure his dad will get all the information he needs, and will make the right choice for any dog they get. PLUS I don't live far from them, and he hangs out with my kid, who KNOWS the ropes. So knock it off and pick on someone your own size. His posts tell you all he's a kid.

Kid or not he needs to understand what "breeding" his dog means. Whether or not its a stud service or for puppies its still adding to the over abundance of pitbulls in the area. And everyone thinks their dog is such a great dog it should have puppies just once or their male has such a great tempermant that it deserves to breed. Well, being a person who has personally passed up soooo many pitbulls for rescue and have looked into their eyes and told them good-bye because their time was up and it was time to die, I can not see why treating this young man as the adult he thinks he is as a bad thing.

It is a learned thing, and being mean or sarcastic only turns him off too learning or listening before he's even introduced to it. Now if one a person is educated, and they still decide to do things their way...well then it becomes a free-for-all. It took me 4 years to learn what it would take to breed my first rottie the "right" way and I am in fact a founding member of several breed specific club, and wrote/dictated many of those "right way" guidelines for our breed. I came into the breed when there were only 800 or so registered in the whole United States! I was young, but I had a good mentor, the very first person I called about purchasing a puppy was kind enough to "educate" me rather than be rude to me and tell me i wasn't worthy, and yes, I was a kid myself, in my late teens.

Additionally, I can understand where you are coming from, being involved in rescue myself. One tends to become.....anti-breeder I guess, based on how many people DON'T care, and do it to suppliment their income especially around here. It's awful around here....with the farmers market and many Amish/Mennonite and many other folks puppy milling dogs and using them as a cash crop. BUT, your (and MY) job as a guardian for our chosen breeds, is to educate not alienate - your breed will be better off for it in the long run, and you are in the breed after all for THE BREED, not the individual dog...right?

I'm all about every individual dog. Every individual dog on deathrow about to have its life ended because someone just doesn't care. Be it pitbull, rottie, mutt, old, sick, lame, ugly, cute.....
All I want this kid and any other future breeder to understand is that there are already enough dogs out there that need good homes and puppies don't always end up in perfect homes. Sometimes even purebreed dogs that someone paid hundreds of dollars for end up in shelters. Is this what you want for your efforts?

ok, and i understand. I am not using this dog as a crash crop. I cant wait to get it ( july 10). Its gonning to be inside, and trained well. WE ARE NOT ANIMAL KILLERS! you act like we are gonna be mean, kick the dog, treat it bad or put it in a pound. Please dont judge me if you dont know me. Also, thanks happyappy cuz i think everyone was way to rude to me.
