Alternatives to Chuck E. Cheese

So I live in Calvert County, I have boy that's going to be 2 years. I just want to take him somewhere where we can have some pizza, some cupcakes and some play equipment. I'm not looking for booking a party. I see most of the chuck e cheeses are in ghetto areas. Are there any alteratives.

IMO, 2 is too young for a Chucky Cheeses when all he will be interested in is a ball pit and slide. Don't you have ChickFilA or something similar in your area?

Another thought if you want pizza would be to call in for carry out and bring pizza with you to a local play area. Leonardtown MD has a most fabulous play area suitable for 2 year olds and you could bring your own pizza, drink and cake.

The new Solomons Town Center park near Ann Marie Gardens is really nice and has a covered area with picnic tables by the play area. They also have fields that he can run around on.

Buy a small box. Put the boy in it. Carry him around in it. This will make his day. Then, take him the Jump yard in Lexington park. It is located in the "ghetto", but I've never had any trouble with any of the other patrons. Then, watch your kids have fun for hours.

In my opinion, the Chuck-e-cheese in Waldorf isn't suitable for any child under the age of 4 or 5. The pizza isn't half bad though...

I'd rather pluck my eyelashes out one at a time than to EVER go into a Chuck E Cheese again. Thank gawd I will never have to.

2 years old? They still love having their cake & icecream with family. You can have a BBQ right outdoors at this time of the year. If you have cousins & other little playmates your child's age - get a slip 'n slide or a couple of wading pools and/or super shooter squirt guns. WAY more fun and not a big deal to have for a few friends and relatives.

IMO, they can't handle parties out in public at that age anyway. They get overloaded when there's too much going on and end up melting down.

If you can't do this at home, then go to Ledo's for Pizza, or Mama Lucia's. You can probably bring in your cupcakes. Pizza Oven in the Safeway shopping center might even let you do something in there. No playground equipment at any of these places. Although, you could get pizzas, bring your cupcakes & juice and go to Hallowing Point Park on Rt. 231.

Any of the ementary schools would have play equipment and likely a picnic table. We used to take the kids all the time and at some age it was better than an amusement park. Not sure how much a just turned 2 could do, but likely as much as at a Chucky place. Huntingtown high has a tiny tots play ground. Not sure about the other high schools.

I know how you feel. I hate when I am required to tag along for any event that takes place there.

Maybe other CeCs are better than the one in Waldorf. The employees seem to be always running at one quarter or half speed and that is AFTER I find one. Some of them even look somewhat high:smack:

When I was a kid in highschool, I was the rat at Chuck E. Cheese, I was 16 mind you. I got fired for smoking out front of the store with my rat head off...just had the Chuck E. suit on.:killingme AND NO I don't smoke anymore, that was years ago. ( I think I actually remember a kid walking in going "mommy, Chucky smokes?")

You could go to Gilbert Run in La Plata. Either bring pizza and cupcakes with you or you could cook burger and hot dogs on the grills there.

You mentioned not wanting to plan it somewhere but if that changes My Gym in Waldorf (not sure where else there might be a My Gym) does great parties. My niece just had her 1st birthday party there last Sunday...it was $300 but that includes 3 hours there, lots of playtime with instructors (toys, games, song games, etc), free time to play in the room and pizza (you'd have to bring cake and favors, if you want them).
