Amazon Prime Day

You know, every year I - sort of - look forward to Amazon Prime Day, but in the same way I look forward to a new season of the Ravens or the Orioles - inasmuch as I am thinking - maybe this time it will be different.

Every year I HOPE to see a bargain I can't miss and every year I just don't see one.

Has anyone found SOMETHING that they're really glad they found? On Prime Day?

I always thought that Prime day was the annual purging of the older models of Amazon items prior to the release of the newer models (Echo dots, Echo show, etc.) with some meaningless items thrown in. Kinda like the annual sale of the older model cars before the new models roll out at dealerships.

Years ago, when my kids were smaller, Fire tablets were perfectly suited for them - small, transportable and Amazon had this service which provided a seemingly endless supply of games they could play. On Prime Day, I would often buy the older Fire tablets to replace theirs.

Now, they're older and have their own phones and REAL tablets and have no need of them. They all have Echo (except me - I refuse to TALK to a computer, especially one that can't figure out what I am saying OR one that "responds" when I am not talking to it), a smart TV in their room - Amazon doesn't really have something for them.

Something small but very handy for baking cookies and stuff. Easy to clean up and I can stop wasting parchment paper and aluminum foil. $7.64 now so basically half price.

Sneakers

Just sneakin' around....
I had a traditional Amazon account while I was hot and heavy into a few projects. Once the projects were done, the account went idle, and a few months later it was hacked from inside Amazon. Cancelled the account, will not open another.

briefly considered picking up a new Oreck, but it seems they aren't made as well as they used to be. Par for the course.

Or I could buy pretty much the exact same kindle I bought 5 years ago for $79 for $139 today. Well not the exact same, the backlight changes automatically now and it has wireless charging.

Oh something I want to write -

______________________________

Open Letter to Amazon.

I'm glad you started taking PICTURES of your delivery, if it's not just a LITTLE creepy. But could you make sure it's on my PORCH? Seriously - stop leaving it by my garage. It looks like you TOSSED it there. Look over to the left - about 20 FEET. See that? That's my PORCH. Put it there.

---------------------------

One time my purchase was - moving boxes. And they left it against my garage.
IN THE RAIN.
And my porch is covered. WELL covered. Fortunately I got the box INTO the garage without too much damage.

My son gave me the French ones for cookies. Mine are more expensive but I've baked with them for over 5 yrs now.

I have some of the globe string lights for my deck. I've broken a couple of bulbs (2 extra come with it) and was looking to get some replacements. They are a couple of bucks off and the string lights are also on sale.
