I love it. Its $79 (?) per year but I get free shipping on most items and they have a lot of free books and movies for prime members. Would recommend it.

Do tell????

I think he means all those "free downloads" are free anyway to anybody who has an Amazon account - even without Amazon Prime. "Free" shipping is still free to non Amazon-prime buyers. It seems kind of silly to be paying for a membership for something you can get for free anyway. But that's my opinion.

Amazon Prime offers free book rentals (I think only one per month, though) and the books are not available for free for non-Prime members (The Hunger Games series, for example). They also offer streaming movies/TV shows and the free shipping for Prime members is 2-day, not the super saver shipping they offer on orders over $25. That being said, I'm not a Prime member and probably never will be.

I check out my online books for free from the library. Of course I'm not sure if a Kindle can read any format like the nook and some other ereaders can, but you check out inkmesh.com and find all kinds of free ebooks.

Well, I like having prime. Almost everything is free shipping (doesn't have to be $25 order) and a lot of books and movies are free that are not free to folks who do not have prime.

I never knew there was a minimum requirement. I spent right under $12 the other day and it was shipped for free. Amazon is not my favorite retailer, so if they charged me shipping I would never buy there.

Hey I have no problem with you spending your money - it's just not how I would choose to spend mine. Especially when there are other venues to really get that stuff for free.

There is another benefit, not t have signed up for it yet. With Amazon Prime you get on demand films via INTERNET and the same Roku box you use to watch GBTV, home of Glenn Beck.

For books, buy them, either from Amazon, BJ's or Kindle from Amazon, that way the author gets paid.
