American Cream Draft Mare

Zoooooooom
Okay, so I'm looking at this mare. She's 5yr old 17h. Had a foal last year and just was a mama. The foal is now a yearling, he's a cremello and is by Saphiro, an imported Lusitano stallion. He's for sale for 15,000. ANYWAY. She's an American Cream Draft of which there are about 300. She's also considered Ivory Champange, which according to the Champange horse association should actually be called Amber Cream. Semantics, I say.

She's green, been ridden about 12 times and with little or no consistancy. She was originally started in harness. I think a refresher course will get the turning/steering figured out. She's very sweet and very, very well behaved on the ground. Is quiet in a stall, stands tied like it's nothing, leads, etc. Picks up feet and holds them up. Stands for mounting, understands go and stop. A bit lazy, but she's very out of shape. Once she gets going she's very forward and very balanced. She's slightly gate sour, but she's not #####y about, she just gravitates to it. :)

She does have one blemish. Her upper lip was caught on a tubular gate when she was a yearling and she ripped a nice chunk off. You can only see it when looking at her head on. It doesn't seem to effect her at all and she doesn't mind it being touched, there is no apparent scar tissue. It just looks kind of like a harelip.

What do you guys think?

Does "Peanut" know you are getting him a new girlfriend?? :lmao: I saw on the other thread that you were in Canada. Were you planning on going horse shopping. If your like me I always have to find something horse realated to do when I'm on Vacation!!

Are you looking at her for breeding or for performance?

Does my butt look big?
There was a breeder of American creams in Hollywood she sold most of her mares someone in SC never paid for them so there are 2 less ACs with papers out there..There is a breeder (Amish) on rt 6 that has these too..that are not terribly expensive so I hope she is priced reasonably dont let them give you the rare speal and charge you alot..

haha, thanks paso, thankfully she's NOT outrageously priced. I could never afford outrageously priced. That's why I'm looking at CANADA for a horse. :) I enter search criteria: Mare, 17h / +, 4-10yrs, started undersaddle, under $3000 and not much pops up. I know a person who breeds creams over near Shady Side, but they have nothing anywhere near this tall.

BZ, yup she's why I drove to Canada :) Oi, it was a hike! Most trail riding and maybe a baby-mama for Peanut. As much as I love percherons most percheron breeders just do NOTHING with their mares, or they drive them. I not looking for a hitch mare or a 6 yr old with no training and 4 babies on the ground. Octavia (the cream mare) loves trail riding and besides steering seems great.

HappyAppy,
Sure! That'd be great! However, this mare is currently in Canada. Prior to that she lived in Texas. (The current owner was going to school in Texas, but took this mare with her when she moved back home to Canada.)

Phyxius, I wonder if Octavia's steering problems mignt be a teeth issue. If so I'd love to see her go after having her teeth done.

I say YUMMMY :yum: but what hit me was her BROWN eyes not Blue. This article says they start blue and turn an amber so she is probably the champagne as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Cream i am trying to find some good stuff about them, hard since there are only 300. With colored morgans the cremellos and creams have blue eyes if they don't they are considered something else. But i'd get her b/c i just LOVE her lol i am so into big horses. She is totally beautiful. http://www.ansi.okstate.edu/breeds/horses/americancreamdraft/index.htm
sorry i like to try to educate myself before i respond to questions so i like to look up the breeds. This one seems totally awesome some rules for registration it seems like the rockies and other breeds. If you are only looking for a riding buddy i'd say jump on her but if you want too breed her make sure she is in the standard. They are a true rare breed.

It is ideal for the ACD to have "AMBER" eyes...just like this mare..

the info reads that the cream have the blue and most start out blue and the champagne coloration of the cream draft start blue and as they age turn amber, so she seems right for her age since she is 7 right??
