yeah the 427 / 454 was a great engine ....

Never heard of the Boss 429 eh?
From what I read they were no good for drag racing they were for nascar just like the the chevy 302 was for trans am racing as it lived in the 6 -8000 rpm range. If I was a ford guy I would choose the 428 scj for drag racing and both the L88 and ls6 or the ZL1 had them all covered and for modern day the LS motors are the way to go IMO

L-88 was a definite muscle car engine, but the LS engines didn’t come out until a full generation after the muscle car era. They’re a great repower option for a muscle car, but so is a Hellcat or a Coyote.
