Americans flock to Canada's immigration Web site

Time for a nap
I overheard a co-worker say yesterday, "Did you hear that Congress has gone Republican too?!? I really feel like this whole process is definitely not fair, and definitely not democratic."

Excuse me?!?!?! What happened on Election Day was WITHOUT A DOUBT democratic. The votes were counted, and those who won, won, and those who lost, lost. That's what America is all about.

It blows my mind that people are actually looking to move to Canada because of their anger towards the American democratic process. What happened to the unity found after September 11th? I'm at a loss for words, but feel completely disheartened by the lack of American pride that I have seen (and heard) in the past few days (specifically by Kerry supporters).

It is really amazing to see/hear all the finger pointing, the recriminations, the HOW could we have LOST(?!) hand wringing going on.

The TV pundits are trying to make hay out of this, while the furor lasts; suddenly here, it occurs to me: How much longer will the Democrats go on national TV and make fools of themselves, trying to explain away the debacle they've just experienced?

The snobs and elitists moving to Canada? Let them!

#1 - more jobs for the rest of us.

#2 - They will fit right in with the French Canadians snobs.

For real. But they're not going anywhere. It's like some little kid threatening to run away from home if they don't get their way. They pack their little satchel and call over their shoulder, "I'm leaving now."

.....

"I mean it - I'm really going!"

.....

"Mom.......?"

I personnally know a guy who left the US and refused to come back until after Carter was voted out of office. There are reactionaries on all sides.

As was mentioned, Congress has BEEN solidly Republican for 10 years now. It just went even MORE so.

And as has been mentioned, your co-worker apparently has no concept of what "democratic" or "fair" means. It's not a far cry from when children whine "No fair!" when they lose.

Actually, this disturbs me more than that, because it reveals a trend I'm seeing in the country - an intolerance of different opinions. This is on both sides, but I'm noticing it more from the left than the right. I don't think people adequately understand that freedom of expression MEANS that you must be able to allow others to preach what you hate, without recrimination.

You know, the election is OVER - and people are STILL vandalizing Bush HQ's. Are we going to see more of this in the future?

See ya!

I wonder how many of those hits came form the Hollywood entertainment elite? All I can say is, don't let the door hit you where the Lord split you. And don't forget to practice your "Ay" as well as remembering to pack your long underwear. :howdy:

I grew up in Buffalo, just across the river from Ontario and now live in Southern Maryland. Those folks threatening they are moving to Canada will get their first experience with socialized medicine, screaming gas prices and taxes up the wazoo.

Hey, the beer there IS good and the donuts aren't bad, but give me the USA any day, even if the elected leadership may not be to my personal taste.

After serving the country for 21 years, I know of no better place to live.

Rock on.
