Amish market beside library will permanently close

The Amish farm market outside the Charlotte Hall public library, will permanently close on October 31, 2021. St. Mary's county intends to have the vendors rent a building across from an elementary school on Route 236, at $2,000 per year (or per 6 months?). But this building may be hard for customers to find, many of whom travel from distant counties an hour away. The space will be turned into a grassy park.

There was talk of doing this, back in Feb. 2019, as reported in "American Farm Publications." At that time, there were complaints about the traffic and filling up parking spaces needed by library patrons (but I have never noticed this??). Supposedly the vendors had also been robbed several times at gunpoint prior to 2019.

makes perfect sense, clean that blight at the library up. the amish have been able to rent the library location for a stupid low price. the new location
is a little more than a quarter of a mile away from the library and will have access from rt 236 and rt 6.
the amish don't like the idea of moving because of the cost and that non-amish produce stands can use the new facility.
