Amp wire!!

Any car audio shops in Hollywood, California, LP?

I'm popping 2 amps into my van and need both 4 and 8 ga power wire. I am no way no how getting one of those over priced install 'kits'... I'm hoping I can find somewhere that sells it by the foot, because this is a van, and I need a lot. Anyone know of any place that does installs and may sell the wire by the foot?

I just needed 10' or so for an inverter. Cheapest jumper cables worked.

:lmao:

Unless your inverter exceeds 2400 watts, that won't do it for me...

I tried West Marine, the stuff they have is marine grade an $6 a foot! Um, no.

So I hit Lowes, and the have #6 that should work running to the Cap, and I'm spur off to #8 going to each amp.... The issue with amps isn't the actual capacity of the wire, it's the voltage drop over distance... any significant voltage drop will effect the amp's performance. :yay:

the "Marine Grade" stuff is usually very fine stranded (less resistance in a smaller wire per foot [but you knew that]) and yeah 6 bucks a foot :faint:

what about welding leads

I'm going to Lowes tonight. I had stopped by and checked out what they had, but due to the thicker stranding I was concerned about voltage drop... I did a little figuring with Ohm's law and such, and the #6 should do fine.

:yay:

Now I have to figure out a good way to mount this 32" LCD tv... Hang from cieling, fold up-able? Fold down into tabletop?

Caps are for pussys.
Run a straight line to a terminal block and then split from there. If you require more power then look at adding another alternator and more batteries.

 I have the 140 Amp alt. and will probably get the 200 soon. I'm thinking of rigging a couple batts in the rear of the van eventually, but not now... that can wait for the additional lighting, fridge, and the 32 inch flatscreen.

I'm not a thumper and I don't do competition, but I do like the cap for now, for the occasional burst of noise.

You could build a HUGE sub box in that van!
Toss in a few 15's or 18's and POUND!
Im only rocking a single 10. Its about as loud as a 12" but much smaller.
