WASHINGTON, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Former U.S. President Bill Clinton has set his sights on becoming U.N. secretary-general. A Clinton insider and a senior U.N. source have told United Press International the 56-year-old former president would like to be named leader of the world body when Kofi Annan's term ends early in 2006.

Anybody think this is a possible way for Clinton to be in charge of the US again? Think about it. If Bush wins, Bill doesn't get the UN spot and Hillary goes for President in 2008. If Kerry wins, Bill takes charge of the UN and dictates US policy from there. After all, he'd be in a position to influence the foreign opinion of the US that Kerry puts so much stock in. Either way, the Clintons win! :yikes:

I'm scared....

I don't think it's a big deal. The Secretary-General post seems to be largely ceremonial. If Clinton gets it, it's probably a safe way of keeping him out of the American political scene, while satisfying his unhealthy need to be in the media spotlight.

Ylexot, what you suggest sounds like something from "Left Behind" or one of L. Ron Hubbard's science fiction novels.

I love Clinton, I think he was one the greatest Presidents we have had in the last 30 years or so. Reagan was good too, but Clinton is better.

If you consider that the Secretary-General is appointed by the General Assembly, on the recommendation of the Security Council, thus making the selection subject to the veto of any of the five permanent members of the Security Council, I doubt if an American will ever be selected (even if it was our old provocateur in chief that wanted the job). Besides I don’t think there are enough interns on staff to meet his needs.

My thinking too. First SecGen of the UN, then one world currency, 7 year treaty with Israel and then the next thing you know WHAM! Fire, Floods, Earthquakes, Famine, War, Armageddon.

Hey, if it's all part of the grand plan, then bring it on. Before you get too nervous about all that stuff, skip to the end of the book and find out who wins. :yay:

I'm not ready to proclaim Billy-boy as the anti-Christ, though. He just doesn't seem that smart. :duh:

Yes Mental Pancake, there is a God.... and Bill Clinton will gladly unleash the four horsemen of the Apocalypse.
Your worship of him is wonderful,...could you compose some anthem for all the school children to sing? Maybe create some way we the undeserving citizens to show our undying allegience to him and the august world body he will preside over? We will bask in his greatness and have photos of him looking down on us peons with the caption "I feel your pain." Women will burst into tears at the sound of his voice and essay contest will try to outdo each other extolling his brilliance.

Am I getting warm yet?

Hilary might be. If the antichrist is the exact opposite of Christ, then it may be a woman. Just a thought.

I don't know if this is Armageddon-type stuff, but it is a pretty brilliant plan on the part of the Clintons.

BTW - I haven't gotten around to reading the last of the Left Behind series. Gee, I wonder how it will end...

No thanks. I stopped reading after the scenes where Jews rushed in a panic to convert. I thought it was distasteful, like the novel was saying that Jews deserved their centuries of persecution for not accepting Jesus.

Actually, the book I was alluding to there was alot older than "Left Behind." I know you didn't like that series.

Perfect...

...you people have no idea, do you, just how absolutely perfect it would be for EVERYONE if Clinton became UN Secretary General.

That's the job he was truly born for. We know his strengths and weaknesses and we know the strengths and weaknesses of the job. Give it some reflection.

Yes, I am serious.

Let's see. The U.N. is a do nothing organization that panders to bashers of the United States. I think I see where you are going.
