I received a wonderful letter in the mail today from Sears:

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE
POTENTIAL HAZARD
PLEASE GIVE THIS YOUR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION

Dear Valued Sears Customer,

Our records indicate that you recently purchased a Craftsman :burning: lawn tractor that may have a potential safety hazard. :blahblah: ...the fuel line on the affected lawn tractors may separate from the fuel tank outlet. If the fuel line separates from the fuel tank outlet, fuel will spill out and could present a risk of fire... :yikes: :blahblah:

Do not use the tractor until you have completed the instructions given in this letter. Inform everyone else who may intend to use the tractor os the potential safety hazard.

:yikes: :jameo: :yikes: :jameo: :yikes:

That could explain the sometimes gas leak they never came out to repair. Guess who I'll be calling first thing tomorrow morning. :banghead:

I am definitely NOT a satisfied customer and they WILL make it right by either replacing this lemon or giving me my money back. Their customer service has sucked big time, too. :boo:

It was quite interesting to see the look of horror on my roommate's face as I read the letter to her. "Do you mean that ####### thing could have gone up in flames while we were on it?" :yikes: "Yep." :jameo:

And thanks. :huggy:

I had them install a steel entry door a couple years ago, they screwed up the door, screwed up my house, and never fixed what they ruined.

They will just give you a clamp to put on it no doubt.

No, THEY will come out and do what needs to be done. I didn't pay that much for a brand new mower to have to fix THEIR problems.

I am so very blessed
Let Sears give you your money back, and I'll sell you my John Deere. We need to get a bigger one and I can't imagine the trade-in will be that great. I'll give you an awesome deal - it's a great mower, just too small for our yard.

That might be doable. Specs on your mower?

That's sounds like the one I test drove down at Carroll's but went :yikes: when I saw the price. Very nice machine. :yay: How old is it?
I think it is a 1999 model. Most JD machines have a meter on them that tracks the hours used, but this one doesn't as far as I can tell.

Mulch kit. Extra set of blades. The hood is cracked because of an ill-fated meeting with a low branch of a tree. Cruise control. Good maintenance. Looks great.

that's EXACTLY what they told me tonight when I called. A technician  is coming out to fix it but the earliest appointment I could get is August 5th. They told me that in the meantime, DON'T use the mower. :jameo:

Anyone want to come out and cut hay in about a week? :banghead:

2 questions:
Which model?
and
Hydrostatic?

Okay, so what I've learned from this ongoing tale of one thing after another is DO NOT buy any major appliances or tools from Sears because they do not stand behind their product. And if they do, they have to be a PITA about it.

Sorry you're having this trouble, Jazz :huggy:
