And the **** [rooster] crowed...

John 18:25 Meanwhile, Simon Peter was still standing there warming himself. So they asked him, “You aren’t one of his disciples too, are you?”
He denied it, saying, “I am not.”
26 One of the high priest’s servants, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, challenged him,Didn’t I see you with him in the garden?” 27 Again Peter denied it, and at that moment a rooster began to crow.

I never noticed it before. The third person to point Peter out as a disciple of Jesus was actually an eyewitness to the arrest. His relative is the one Peter attacked [from behind] with a sword. Peter was acting as the cowardly lion then and now again. The man saw him strike someone and Peter denied it. He called a victim's relative a liar!

Now.... this is a Bible Study. Every morning I sit down at a computer and post some verses out of the Online Bible. I then go to commentary. I use a few but my favorite two are David Guzik and Got Questions. I'm an old woman, 73 last October. As I have confessed on multiple occasions, I don't have a clue what I am reading. That's why I post these verses and my opinion of what the verses teach this day. I have thanked the readers on these forums for keeping me reading. I've been accused of spamming y'all. Sorry about that... but thanks for keeping me going.

In the Old Testament.... Moses' aide and successor, Joshua, made a statement that I've used on several occasions.

Joshua 24:15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

My family doesn't agree with me. As a matter of fact, on more than one occasion, I've heard them say "there she goes with that religion stuff again".

I was raised Baptist. I was baptized at the First Baptist Church in New London, Conn. I grew up "knowing" that Christianity is the way.

I Believe that Jesus is the Only Begotten Son of the One True Living God. I Believe God Created the Earth and everything in it and around it. I Believe that the Bible is the Inspired Word of God. I Believe the Holy Spirit helps me interpret the scriptures. It doesn't matter what version the Bible takes, when someone sincerely wants to learn, the Spirit is the guide. All those times I got stuck with the KJV, there was a preacher involved who interpreted it for me.

I don't Believe in the brick-and-mortar church. There are a lot of really horrible people in the pulpits of a lot of churches. I stay in the Word.

I Believe Jesus let them put Him on the Cross. I Believe He let them make a public display of His murder. If He didn't want them to arrest Him and take Him to the Cross, He was perfectly capable of avoiding it. After all, in the verses in yesterday's verses, when Jesus spoke, the Roman Soldiers fell backwards.

I understand there are humans who are not Christian. OK fine. It's your eternity to throw away if you so choose. I'm fine with learning what Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, and others believe. But as I've said before "as for me, I will serve the Lord".

This is a Bible Study. I've been told I'm not allowed to do this because I'm a woman. They claim my church doesn't like it. My church is the Baptist Church and we Believe the Bible is there to guide us. And women must hold their weight in the church as well.

Romans 16:1-5; 1 Corinthians 11:1-3 Are verses that show women do have responsibilities. Y'all [who think women don't belong] look it up! Stop crowing about things y'all [who think women don't belong] obviously have no clue about!
This is a Bible Study... and all that said.... I'm not sure I'm any braver than Peter. If an officer was going to arrest me, and I knew I would probably be beaten and given a death sentence.... I've hung on to my Belief for decades.... but I'm not sure I could hang in there any better than Peter did. IMHO, Peter was no saint, but neither am I.

Peter denied Jesus the third time.

And the **** [rooster] crowed.
