She is just plain dumb. She will probably try and sue the hospital to when her kid is born with some kind of birth defect.

Some people should not be alowed to have kids.

Just think, if you hadn't.. they could be brain surgeons or Nuclear Physicists..

Granted you never know.. but if you smoked, how do you know they are fine?? How do you know they don't have say 98% function and not 100%, or they are only 83% as smart as they would have been if you didn't?? You don't know... So why take the chance? They didn't have a choice to have smoke in their system, you did.

Some people are just selfish, and would rather risk the health of their kid over going through the inconvenience of giving up smoking for 9 months.

And the smack of the da... 10-27-2006 11:22 AM Get off your high horse, damn your hand must be hurting

What high horse?? Stating the fact that EVERYONE knows smoking can and does hurt a developing fetus, how is this being on a HIGH HORSE!!?

Smoking while pregnant endangers the child and is just plain STUPID!! I have to admit I agree with PNGRR. Is it to much to ask for woman to quit smoking for nine WHOLE months while the fetus is developing into a human being??

Back when I was pregnant with my kids, the doctor didn't tell you to stop smoking when you were pregnant. This is a more recent phenomenon - the anti-smoking hysteria that people buy into. In fact, most of my girlfriends who were pregnant around the same time I was smoked - and their kids are fine, too.

I am with you. Can't speak for anyone else but I know that my children are the most important thing to me and not smoking for 9 months is nothing compared to a healthy child....

If my mood swings were that bad I would have had second thoughts on being a mom.....No offense....

Thats right, they barely told us anything back then. If they had advice it was usually over a drink!

They did tell me to only drink alcohol in moderation - no more than one or two alcoholic beverages in a day, and keep it to beer or wine.

This was back when SIDS was the hot new fad killer, so everyone was way more worried about that than smoking.

common sense tells you not to smoke when you're 9 months pregnant, drunk, and ice skating. :smack:
