Firing a few prosecutors?

Webb Aide Arrested For Taking Gun Into Senate Building

U.S. Capitol Police arrested a top aide to Sen. Jim Webb on Monday after he tried to enter a Senate office building carrying a loaded pistol and two fully loaded magazines that belonged to the senator.

First off what the heck was he thinking and secondly... I don't know about you all, but this is kind of big deal if you ask me. Why isn't this getting much press? It's not on the front page of the CNN, MSNBC, Washington Post or the NYT websites. Only FoxNews. You know darn well if this was a republican he'd be demanded his resignation.

This is getting to be a habit for him isn't it?

I seem to recall this happening much earlier in Webb's gubnotorial term.

My bet is the poor bastage is taking the hit for Webb. Fox said he took the bag from Webb when he dropped him off at the airport. Guy probably didn't know the weapon was in the bag and Webb didn't tell him. I can NOT believe he would have been stupid enough to think it wouldn't show on the X-ray. AND Webb has been conspicuously silent.

I thought so at first, too. But then I decided, why would it be a big deal? A relatively law abiding citizen carries a gun... sounds like a good idea to me.

The article states that the aide forgot it was in the bag.

Thompson said he forgot it was in the bag when he took it into the office building.

I expect Webb to be silent about it. I'm more concerned about the silence of the press and those controversy-creating democrats not jumping all over this.

How do we know this aide wasn't about to go postal or something?

Ummm... perhaps you are no longer a law-abiding citizen when you illegally carry it into the Senate Building.

YOU THINK?

And help me out here... what is a "relatively law abiding citizen"?

I agree that this is not a big deal. Well, it's a big deal... but I believe that it was an honest mistake, and Thompson didn't act out of malice or have evil on his mind.

I also agree that if this was an (R), he would be getting verbally crucified by the media right now, and the entire Democratic party would be positively manic.... :jameo: :jameo: :jameo: :jameo: :jameo:, like the Apocolypse was upon us, and Phillip Thompson was the Red Horseman of War.

They're definitely illegal in the Capitol building.
But why? Isn't the Capitol part of the United States? Doesn't the Constitution apply there? Why not?

Well, I think the best way to change the laws is make sure someone important pays for the stupid ones.. we should stay on top of this and make sure it goes to court, the right person gets found guilty and gets sentenced under the mandatory sentencing guidelines.. you'd be amazed at how fast the laws will be changed if we are getting ready to send a fairly influeintial democrat to jail.

When and where was Webb a governor???

My mistake. Sorry, I'm not from the Commonwealth.

But I still recall Webb having problems with a concealed weapon on one of his keepers not too long ago.

So you knew what was on his mind? Okay, so he wasn't acting out of malice, but rather stupidity. But claiming you forgot is not an out. He still broke the law. It's like telling the officer you didn't realize your were going so fast. Oh well, pay closer attention next time.

This was really the premise of my point. And now Jim Webb is completely deflecting the whole issue off himself. Instead of any sort of loyalty to those that bust their a$$ for him, he is claiming he knew nothing about it and takes not responsibility in it. Now that's a REAL leader.

Yet, again, the media is silent.

Look 2nd... I know your take on this and I don't disagree with you. But we still have to obey the law until we can change it.
