Checks that require an act of God to open. You should be able to open an envelope, shake out the check, and that's the end of it. Instead some sadist got the bright idea to have these checks that are part of the envelope, so you have to carefully remove the perforated side strips, then carefully remove the perforated top strip, then carefully detach the check itself from the rest of the envelope.

Why do people do that - take something simple and difficult it up?
