Participate in the Maryland Annual Driving Survey
Are you concerned with the driving behaviors of motorists in Maryland?
Is the state doing what it needs to do to ensure the safety of Maryland motorists?
On average, more than 500 people die on Maryland roadways annually. Each year, the Maryland Highway Safety Office, a division within the Maryland State Highway Administration, conducts numerous surveys of Maryland motorists about pressing safety issues on our roadways, including, but not limited to, drunk driving, speeding, aggressive driving, and motorcycle safety. These surveys help in developing effective campaigns and investments that will help reduce needless and preventable motor vehicle crash-related deaths and injuries.
Let us know how we’re doing by taking this brief survey about highway safety in Maryland. Your input will go a long way in helping shape new and existing highway safety programs within Maryland, including enforcement and education efforts.
The MHSO Maryland Annual Driving Survey monitors four categories of priority health-risks among all kinds of roadway users. These include:
• behaviors that contribute to increased crash risks on roadways;
• knowledge about Maryland’s driving laws;
• attitudes related to driving laws and behaviors; and
• awareness of Maryland’s media efforts in combating risks associated with varying kinds of driving behaviors.
Here is a sample of some of the valuable information learned from last year’s survey:
• 23% of surveyed drivers are likely to drive after drinking alcohol.
• 95% of surveyed drivers wear their seatbelt all the time
• Approximately half of drivers who drink claim to wear a seatbelt while driving above the 65 MPH posted speed limit.
