North Dakota man who ran down 'Republican' teen says he doesn't want his own life, job jeopardized

Shannon Brandt made the remarks during a court hearing to face charges for alleged hit-and-run death after 'political argument'

The North Dakota man accused of killing a teenager with his car following a "political argument" said he didn't understand the charges against him during a recent court appearance.

Shannon Brandt, 41, spent just days in a Stutsman County Jail on criminal charges related to the death of 18-year-old Cayler Ellingson before he posted his $50,000 bond and was released, according to county jail records.

He is charged with vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident.

"I don't understand the differences," he told a judge during a Monday court hearing before he was released, according to video footage from a local news outlet.

Brandt objected to the bail amount, saying he was not a flight risk.

The life of a teen was lost because this POS got his fee-fees hurt. I hope this bastard burns in hell. I can't imagine the pain young Cayler's parents are going through. :burning:

This man obviously believes that democrats have to right to kill anyone who disagrees with them. He admitted that he deliberately ran down this teenager and he shows no remorse for his act. IMO he should be held without bail not because he is a flight risk but because he actually believes he has the right to kill.

Why wouldn’t he be confused? His head is being filled with ‘leaders’ and news outlets telling him how evil and dangerous anyone is who thinks or believes differently than him. He sees violent acts of others going unpunished, so why is he in trouble?

This is such a typical Demprog. "Well sure, I killed a kid in cold blood but that doesn't mean I should have to lose my job. I mean, he was just a MAGA."

I have no doubt this guy is a hero on Twitter.

Compare the media coverage to the Charlottesville incident.
Dems screamed, screeching, foaming at the mouth, demanded Trump apologize for that whole rally and grovel on the floor condemning the heart attack death of the “lady”. They still b$tch about it, while Trump had nothing to do with it. “Fine people on both sides” BS. Situation there was murky, driver was attacked by the mob and did panic.

Here, a POS kills a kid in cold blood, pre-meditated, following Biden’s gory speech where he called to “smash MAGA”. Is anyone going to demand Joe apologize for this killing? I won’t hold my breath.

What gets me about the "fine people" is - ANYONE who heard the entire context knows in a cold second, he wasn't the violent SOBs on both sides.

It's very clear he was saying that people on one side didn't want the statues down, and people on the other, did.

"You had some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides. ... I saw the same pictures as you did. You had people in that group that were there to protest the taking down of, to them, a very, very important statue and the renaming of a park from Robert E. Lee to another name. ... So you know what, it's fine. You're changing history. You're changing culture. And you had people — and I'm not talking about the neo-Nazis and the White nationalists, because they should be condemned totally — but you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and White nationalists. Okay? And the press has treated them absolutely unfairly. Now, in the other group also, you had some fine people. But you also had troublemakers, and you see them come with the black outfits and with the helmets and with the baseball bats. You had a lot of bad people in the other group."

And they get it. They should. There were crowds of people, but only a small number of troublemakers, on either side, although to hear the Left bray about it, just ONE side of troublemakers. (**This is where the uninformed liberal type gets messed up. They believe that if you wanted the statue to STAY, well it doesn't matter what you do or say, you're already a white nationalist, period and therefore, no rights are accorded to you**).

But what pisses me off about it, is, unless you're supremely stupid and cannot handle reading comprehension - then to quote that with full knowledge of what he said was - you're lying your ass off. The Left calls the Right uninformed and ignorant? This is People's Exhibit #1 - lying about what was said in full view of what was actually said. It isn't NUANCED. He positively condemns the actions of the violent and the neo-Nazis AND THE WHITE NATIONALISTS.

But I thought it was MAGA republicans who were violent and out to kill everyone?

That's what the democrat media keeps telling people, then fail to talk about this story because people will figure out their lies.

Despite court documents showing Brandt admit his motive for allegedly killing Ellingson, the AP conveniently hid Brandt’s obvious antagonism against Republicans, writing that Brandt hit Ellingson because of an ambiguous “political argument.” AP failed to include that Brandt appeared to target Ellingson for being a part of “a Republican extremist group,” language that mirrors — as The Federalist’s Jordan Boyd pointed out — President Joe Biden’s recent rhetoric describing Trump and his base as “a threat to the very soul of this county” who are willing “to engage in political violence.” Of course, now that evidence exists showing the opposite, corporate media are loath to admit it.

And they’re not only refusing to admit it, they’re trying to keep readers from hearing it. A presumably unarmed 18-year-old was allegedly chased, run over, and killed by a man who said he felt threatened by the teen’s Republican political views. Change the teenager’s race, politics, or sexuality, and corporate media would’ve been all over it. AP’s decision to omit THE key detail surrounding Ellingson’s murder is akin to lying. And that is why the American public is so disgusted with the corporate media, because they see the industry for what it is: the propaganda wing of the Democrat Party.

For years the American public has watched corporate media intentionally cover up inconvenient facts — or straight up lie. And they’re no longer taking it at face value. After all, how many times has the AP intentionally printed lies and peddled misinformation for Democrats?

Don't forget, then Gov Terry McAwfull gave the order to ground units to force that driver down that road with the expressed intent of causing a confrontation with Anti-White Supremacist rioters in which some one was guaranteed to be hurt.

Little evidence of political argument before teen's death

Shannon Brandt fatally struck Cayler Ellingson with his vehicle on Sept. 18 in McHenry. Brandt told a 911 dispatcher that he felt threatened after having a political argument with Ellingson, and that he believed the teen was part of a “Republican extremist group.” Investigators say none of the witnesses they have interviewed support the idea that there was a political argument before authorities say Shannon Brandt struck Cayler Ellingson with his vehicle on Sept. 18 in McHenry, and a family friend who knew the teen said he wasn’t active in politics.akota Highway Patrol Capt. Bryan Niewind says authorities have talked to dozens of witnesses.

I love how they’re flipping over backwards to cast this as anything but a political attack.

In spite of the fact that the perpetrator told them why over the 911 call.

Brandt was arrested at his residence a short time later and seemed perplexed that he was held on a $50,000 bond, noting that he should be in jail. At his arraignment, he said he had a family and a job and didn’t consider himself a flight risk—seemingly oblivious to the fact that he had killed someone. He was released two days later, even though he had confessed to killing Ellingson. In this country, being a liberal doesn’t grant you a legal shield unless you’re a Clinton, Obama, or a top donor.

Brandt initially faced charges of leaving the scene of an accident and vehicular homicide, but the latter charge was dismissed since authorities upgraded it to murder. Mr. Brandt reportedly turned himself in on Friday. His call to 911 provided cause to charge him with murder since it appeared that his striking of Ellingson was intentional, not accidental (via Fox News):

Shannon Brandt, the man who is accused of fatally hitting Cayler Ellingson with an SUV, has been charged with murder in the death of the 18-year-old, and new information alleges that the teenager was run over by an SUV.
Brandt, 41, was initially arrested after police say that he fatally hit Ellingson with an SUV during the early morning hours of September 18 after a street dance that took place at a local bar in McHenry, North Dakota. Court documents state that Brandt initially fled the scene and told a 911 operator that Ellingson was part of a "Republican extremist group," adding that the teenager was calling on others to come "get him."
[…]
North Dakota Highway Patrol Capt. Bryan Niewind told Fox News Digital that there was "no evidence" suggesting that the teenager was part of a "Republican extremist group" or that the incident involved politics.
