"ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A man who called himself "Papa Pilgrim" and took his family far from civilization to raise them according to his interpretation of the Bible was sentenced Tuesday to 14 years in prison for sexually assaulting a daughter.

A judge imposed the sentence after Robert Hale's wife and many of their 15 children delivered statements that included intense stories of physical and mental abuse. Judge Donald Hopwood called it "one of the worst cases of domestic violence I've seen."

Rather an inflammatory title for a story that only suggests he interpretated a bible to run off to Alaska to live. That could make him a just about anything really. I dont think one would create such a negative title unless they had some sort of personel bias. Funny how we show our true colors?? Oh by the way you may want to replace your Santa picture. History tells us that he was a Christian and may have been an archbishop with a church who gave money to the poor around the christmas time. funny that you want to separate him from christianity when it suits your purpose. But he considered himself a christian and named his children from the bible. i dont see how that makes him anything other than a christian nutjob.

Why not? He was Christian and he was a nutbag. It's written that way because he used his faith as a tool for is crime, the same way you say muslim nutjob for the guys blowing people up.
