Another Crate Training question

We adopted 2 puppies this weekend http://photobucket.com/albums/a10/mom2febgirls/?action=view&current=puppies.jpg

and we bought a crate for them. They are so smart and have only had 2 accidents in the house on Saturday.

This should be our schedule...The puppies get played with and walked in the mornings and then put in the crate at 8:30 when I go to work. I come home at 11:30 and take them potty, then for a walk. Back in the crate at 12:30 until I get home at 3:30. Then they will stay out until bedtime around 9:00.

But I am wondering, should we get each of them their own crate or is one crate is enough?

2 crates !!

As said in another post, the crates arent just a standy by till we get home place, its goin to also be there shelter / safe haven in all.. you dont want jealousy to come between them by trying to figure out who will rule the roost...

Ok, another question. We bought a playyard also (we haven't set it up yet) I thought we'd hook it to the edge of the crate so they could go in and out. Should we not do the playyard and just do the 2 crates?

Well, you could use the play yard when you are going to be doing things and not be able to keep a good eye on them.. ie- vacumming, eating dinner, taking a bath/brushing teeth, making dinner... things of that nature...

But you will definitly want 2 crates, because as they get a tad older, they we take up more space, and want to move around more and things like that, plus, it lets them know that they have someone to go when they want "alone" time so to speak.... or if you need to punish one, and want to put him in the crate, it doesnt become a thing of "why are you in there, and Im out here" type deal...

The best way to deal with puppies, is treat them JUST LIKE KIDS... ya know.. thats they easiest way to do it..
