Gasoline prices hit a new record high

Crude briefly tops $109 a barrel as dollar continues to fall

NEW YORK - The cost of filling up the family car jumped to a record high Tuesday, adding to the challenges consumers already face with falling home values and rising food prices.

Gas prices at the pump rose overnight to a record national average of $3.2272 a gallon, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. That’s a tad higher than the previous record of $3.2265, set last May.

A year ago, rising demand and a string of refinery outages had raised concerns about supplies. Now, the soaring price of crude oil is the culprit, propelling gas higher even though supplies are at 15-year highs.

Well OPEC decided not to up production and they don't meet again until Sept. if it is hurting people bad enough they will figure a way not to buy so much of it eventually. Either sell their gas hog for something more economical or maybe even invest in an oil company and enjoy the windfalls while they last.

Slowly but surely it looks like people might start chinging their ways, we might see a little relief, sometime, when??????

They said on the news last night "we don't think gas prices will hit $4/gallon, they'll probably hit $3.70 or $3.80 a gallon..." like that's a whole lot better.
