Thanks Everyone... I took tons and tons of pictures of 2 dragonflies.. I just ordered this book Amazon.com: Nikon D40/D40x Digital Field Guide: David D. Busch: Books that Jbr recommended so hopefully I will be able to learn something from it and improve

That is a great shot---and don't think it doesn't take all of us hundreds of shots to get "the one" or two that are keepers--it is helpful to know your equipment and how to put things to your advantage by changing settings --and lots and lots of experimentation too!!! For the little time you have had to use your Nikon(considering it was out of service for a while) your doing well---but we are all our own worst critics arent we?

Very cool shot!I haven't figured out yet how to get them to sit still long enough for me to get a good shot of them.
Lots of patience... and standing like a statue
Their was another one that was mostly white.. I couldn't really get any good pics of that one because it wouldn't stay still.
