another small dog needing a home - Bella

Description given by current owner:

"She is 11 lbs. white w/brown face and a brown ring around her tail. She will come with a crate and leash. She is current on her rabies shots she is papered (although we haven't filed them but she does come from a champion bloodline. We have the paperwork). She does not do well with children at all (which is why we can't keep her). She is a friendly dog but does need to be crated if left alone."

Although the owner doesn't state the breed, I believe she previously told me Jack Russell. She has NOT yet been spayed. We do not want to allow this dog to be adopted w/o first being spayed. We would ask the adopter to reimburse us for the spay fee at Humane Society/Waldorf.

She has been with this family for many months but only recently starting biting the children. If you ask me there may be some kid-play going on that may be provoking it, if it just started, you know?

Also she is not currently being exercised as a young dog would need. They do not have a fenced area and they currently walk her on a leash. I also understand she has been kept crated a lot, which can be detrimental for her disposition.

She certainly is a cutie.

Jack Russells are very active dogs. They NEED to run around every day. They definitely do well being couped up. I hope that you find her a great home. I wish that I could take her.

I am checking to see if the Puggle is still available. She does great with kids. I'll update that thread as soon as I hear back about her availability.

It is great when people are able to hold onto the pet while we search for a home. Yes I think that "breed" combo may be destined to be a tad chubby LOL

Bella has no known interactions with cats. With me trying to get over the flu, I am not sure when I could assist with an introduction to Bella and her current family. Last I knew she was located in Laurel, that being the case, I can put people in touch with Bella's family so they can arrange a meeting this week or .....

If I am better by next week (I should be) I'd be happy to pick Bella up and bring her to whoever wants to meet her.

In the ER yesterday and discovered I don't have the flu. I am dehydrated and I passed a kidney stone earlier in the week. I am still miserable and trying to rehydrate my body.

I have had to rely on helpers to care for the critters. They couldn't come until Friday afternoon so I handled it until they came.

The fever going on for days had me dehydrated badly. It sure felt like what I remember the flu to be. ER said there are many non-flu viruses going around.

In another day or two I should be feeling better.

arkie maybe its time you go to your family doctor and get them to check into it further than the er did with just telling u its a kidney stone. maybe its something else going on too that they didn't catch in the er.

Actually I was quite impressed with how well they handled me at the ER. I haven't seen the bill yet so I am sure I may need a tranquilizer once I get the bill in the mail LOL

I'll be getting some lab work done soon, so maybe that will turn up a clue?

Bella is still available. The person who was supposed to get her through the owner changed their mind at the last minute, I notified the interested party here but they already found some furry dogs to love on.

Bella is a high energy Jack Russell Terrier that doesn't currently do well with small children (until recently she was fine with them). Bella has been stressed due to not having adequate exercise, and she has been crated a lot.

I am hoping we can get Bella some exercise in the coming days to help relieve her stress. She sounds like a great dog that just recently started nipping the children due to lack of exercise and/or excitability.
