I know dogs can have peanut butter, but how about almond butter? I make my own hippie homemade nut butters and would like to bake Apollo some snackies.

Well ya didn't specify whether you did or not....geez

Who gives a ####?? All I want to know is if almonds are okay to give dogs. It's not rocket science. If you don't know the answer, get the hell out of here.

Peanuts are legumes, almonds is a true nut.
I dont think there would be a problem as the 2 are not related. Many species of wildlife eat nuts without issues.
So if it safe for all other wild mammals, should be fine for dogs!

I would think almond butter would be fine, in moderation, as the fat content can cause gastric upset.
Enjoy!!

Why would I feed my dog peanut butter? I don't even keep peanut butter in my house. That's why I freaking asked about ALMOND butter - because I do make that.

Why is everyone so stupid today? It was that moon, wasn't it?

That is what I wanted to know - thank you!

I know legumes are fine because of beans, etc. But I was iffy on the nuts.

The snackies were made with:

Almond butter (almonds and a bit of almond oil)
Pulverized apple
Oatmeal flour
2 eggs

Mix together and form little patties, then bake at 350 for 20 mins. They're pretty tasty, although they could use some sugar and salt for human consumption. But Apollo loves them so that's all that counts.
