Anti-itch contraption

I'm looking for something that will keep my dog from scratching an incision on her shoulder blade. Because of its location, she already can't reach it with her mouth but she can get it good with her hind leg and really cause some damage. I've tried everything I can think of. I keep her busy with lots of toys and give her stuff to chew and keep her busy while I'm at work. I've tried putting a sock on her foot and a t-shirt on her... but the shirt seems to irritate her more and she is still able to cause some major damage through the fabrics.

Do they make something that goes around a dog's waist that would keep her leg from reaching the area with her hind leg (...kinda like an e-collar but that goes around her waist)?

I'm taking her back to the vet today (and she'll likely need to be re-stitched). I don't want this to happen again! I'm at my wits end...

The only thing I can think of is a snug fitting dog sweater or cut a human shirt to fit her. You'd probably need something thicker than a t-shirt though, so something sweat-shirt weight or heavier.

The vet might have some suggestions also.

My Sweetest Boy
We had a heck of a time with our Boxer when he had his cancer surgery a few months ago. He had a huge incision just above his shoulder. When he first came home, I used a turtleneck shirt and cut off the long sleeves. That worked well but after about a week, he started wanted to scratch it with his back leg. He developed a seroma and had to have a drain put in.

The surgeon came up with a vest of bandages (to allow the drain to work) and tape which worked very well to keep him from scratching and even if he did, he was not able to disturb the wound. We had to have this changed every three days for about two weeks.

Good luck!

The vet had some good news! It's not as bad as it looks and she doesn't need to be re-stitched. She cleaned it out and gave me an antibiotic for her. She also gave me a sedative for her if needed.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to see what I can come up with between using a sweatshirt and some bandages....
