The boys had a friend spend the night last night. He had 4 bags of Risperdal Popcorn. The bag is red and he told the kids they couldn't eat it because it was his medicine.

I looked it up.......

Risperdal is the latest drug to cope with all your problems and relieve you from anxieties. Risperidal is used to treat the symptoms of schizophrenia and the most frequently prescribed antipsychotic medication in the U.S.

Now, is this kid yanking my chain or have pharmacutical companies resorted to lacing snacks with drugs? :shocking:

Now THAT's strange. By the way, does the kid display any, like, ummmm indications he might need that type of medication?

Risperdal or risperdone is a sedative. It's used as a depressant in cases of autism, etc. My son has been on it for years along with paxil.

Did the parent of the child tell you he had meds that he needed to take - in the form of popcorn or otherwise?? As a parent, I'd want to know...

I can't imagine that this drug would be put in popcorn. It is very strong. When my Mother began hallucinating, due to Alzheimer's and complications, it is what was prescribed for her. A half of a tiny pill did the trick! It is a very potent drug.

:yeahthat: Can't put prescription drugs in popcorn. Illegal.

The article sounds like advertising, just like the pens they mentioned. Now who would pass out popcorn with drug ads?

Drug Reps. They have just about anything with their drug info on it. They'll give it to Doctor's offices to help "remind" them to use their product.

Knowing folks that have had to take mental meds, I know they have sprinkles and such for other meds to put on ice cream so that kids will take it. Maybe it's a new strategy to balance them out

Seems a bit dangerous at best.

Yes, and consumers end up paying for those freebies through higher prices for meds.
