Been using McAfee for a long time and it sucks. What is better? Something that doesn't interfere when loading other programs, etc, etc.

Been using Norton 360 for several years. Very happy with it. Good protection and it keeps the computer tuned up too.

I've been using the free version of AVG on all of our computers and have never had a virus. It works so well I couldn't imagine paying for virus software ever again.

One problem with McAfee is their firewall. When I down load a game or an update to one, it screws it up and won't let the entire thing download. Then I have to do it again with the firewall, etc turned off. I have since learned to just turn it off before any download or install.

Webroot!!! It does not use up your computers resources like all of the other anti virus programs out there nor does it slow your cpu down

virus software advice needed

I was notified by Verizon that I have had huge data surges, 11 GB at once. They insist that I have a virus. Even when I had the equipment UN-pluged the internet was accessed. While that makes no sense to me, seems it's their equipment, I want to resolve the issue and check my computers. I have Norton installed and running. My question is can I use another free virus scans or will it conflict with Norton? Any other advice to resolve the issue is appreciated.

AVG is very impressive, and it's not just anti virus, but comes with mal-ware tools, optimization tools, and they let you download a full working copy for a free 60 day trial.

First off, ditch Norton, it's a resource hog..
