AntiVirus Ratings

A common question here has been "what is the best antivirus?" Just got my Consumer's and it rated free and paid products.

Free, better to worse:
57 Avast - better at threat blocking, fair at response to threats
53 Avira - better at ease of use
52 AVG - better at response to threats
38 MS Security Essentials - overall not a good rating, poor malware scanning and only fair updating.

Avast, Avira, and AVG all rating equally good at resource management and response to threats, MS Essentials was poor. All rated pretty low in anti-phishing.

Paid anti-virus products, better to worse:
65 ESET
64 G Data
60 F-Secure
59 Kapersky
59 BitDefender
59 Avira

McAfee, Norton and MS Win 8 Defender placed 11, 12 and 13 out of 14 tested.

Where does Symantec Endpoint Protection sit on the list?

i take a lot of those ratings with a grain of salt, they only are able to test them with limited threats so alot of the time the #1 rated would be the #5 rated if it was just tested a bit differently etc etc.
