My truck wouldn't start this morning. It would turn over and acted like it started but with alot of knocking then it dies. I noticed it has been acting funny when I start it and now it just doesn't want to run? Any idea's I hate the thought of having to take it to the dealer...Too Poor to give them my dollars....:otter: it's a 6.0 I have NEVER had any problems with it...thx

I don't know where you live but we take our truck (diesel) to Two Guys in Mechanicsville. We take all our autos there and have been very pleased with them. They do good work and are straight up honest with their customers. Good luck in finding someone.

if i am remembering straight the place that has all teh busses at it on 235 on your way to pointlookout i think he is a diesel mech as we sent someone there last summer that couldn't get his truck to start and they went to him to figure out the problem.

That's a ford. So go and trade it in at Winegardiners and get a Chevy Duramax.
You didn't put any gas in it did ya? Check your coolant level to. They blow head gaskets a lot also.

Ford diesels have had issues with the cam shaft position sensor. Known problem. They changed suppliers and the new ones are much better. It will give you your exact symptoms. Not a hard replacement if you have some mechanical ability. Look it up online.

If you want to search online, go to The DieselStop Forums and go to the 6-oh-no (6.0) section...

I have heard the 6.0 PowerStrokes you either got a really good one (with no problems) or one that was really bad (head problems) - sounds like you have a good one that had something go. I would join and post the question there.

Good luck!

Fuel filters

Been changed per specification ? My diesel is a lot smaller and lots older less complex. I have had filter issues. They will not go without fuel flow.

:yeahthat:

Unlike gas, diesel "sweats" and water will build up in your fuel system until your fuel filter has nothing but water in it. (water is not very combustible).

First thing I'd do is drop the fuel filter and see what you got.

Also check to see if there is a petcock on the bottom of the filter where you SHOULD be draining water out of it regularlay.. Diesels SHOULD have a way for you to get the water out of the system but you need to do it regularly.

Truck is maintained better than me. So it's not a fuel issue. every filter was just done. It did this once before and never threw a code, and they had the truck for 3 days and it wouldn't minic it and hasn't untill now, but this time I got a engine light and so we have a code.I got it to start yesterday afternoon and I got it to the dealer.I know a little bit about engines and have learned a lot about diesels. I also know of the issues with the 6.0 but so far this has been the only 2 issues with it. I agree that it is the cam shaft sensor..I also do look at the diesel stop forum. As far as the Silverado. I was a dye hard chevy silverado owner untill I had to replace a few transmissions. I should have went back and got another ram...the one I have has 213k on it and still going strong..This is my first diesel..Thanks for everyones suggestions....:buddies:

So it WAS a fuel issue!!

Yes. But not filters.... It controls all the injectors. Truck still at shop. They are going to test the injectors to make sure that it didn't mess them up. The module alone is a :cds: 700$ part....Good thing I had the 100k warranty 100$ ded. Get it this afternoon..... Damn high maintenance truck....:coffee: It has 65k on it and this is the first major issue with it...I guess I'm lucky compared to some diesel stories I have heard....
