1. Are you claiming another state for Tax reasons? What state?
2. How did Maryland react to your tax filing? Any audits and did you keep great records?
3. Was it worth the cost? Whats the cost to get Licence and new plates in a new state? (Approximate cost)
4. Whats the ROI? How much are you now saving each year?

Only experience I have with that is while my wife was in the USAF, our home of record was Vermont. Vermont was easy, they did not tax military pay at the time.

We kept no better than average records and were audited once in 14 years, forgot to enter one new source of income, owed about $25 - $30 dollars.
