Boater out in the bay has found a boat adrift. Oops. Coast Guard trying to get them to get close enough to give an Boat name and Registration Number. But the Coast Guard will not send anyone out to retrieve the boat. They will try to call owner if further identification can be obtained.

Hubby was looking out the kitchen window when he told me there is a sunken boat in the lake behind our house. He said you can only see the front of it just sticking out of the water. No clue as to how it got there. Any other DP ppl have a idea?

WTH? I thought the Coast Guard was supposed to keep the waterways clear of hazards to navigation, besides, what if there is someone incapacitated on board that can't be seen from a distance?

1) maybe it floated to that spot before the water leaking in made it sink?

2) Maybe a couple idiots built it there and thought it would just pop up and float when the last piece of wood was installed.

3) its really the Nautilus and Capt Nemo is living in southern Maryland where he ended married to Ned?

Yep, seems very strange the CG would not go take a look. If nothing else, take Sea-Tow with them and and when the owner is found (hopefully not on the boat dead), charge him a fine, etc..

Nope one of mine is on the trailer in the back yard and the other is in the garage upside down while I work on the bottom.

With the wind blowing the way it is today. I wouldnt go out looking for an empty boat either.

I never did hear any more on this. I am not even 100% sure it was in Southern MD. I keep Ch. 16 in several scanners and there are multiple repeaters throughout the state. I could not hear the boater but I could hear CG Baltimore. I dunno if the boat was afloat in a channel, up against the shore, or whatever.

If sinking, I would think they would investigate for loss of life possibility and hazmat. If in a channel I would think there might be loss of life suspicions and other mariner's safety concerns. It struck me kind of odd that they did not take more action on it. Maybe it was just floating around in a small inlet or something.

Also they had been putting out advisories looking for a 70YO Male boater in something like a 25' boat for the last 2 days. You would have thought they would have taken this a bit more seriously. Probably some things said by the boater that I could not hear.
