Anyone use Banfield clinic at PetSmart?

Hi All-

I appreciate all the responses to my thread about Tidewater. I plan on switching to Tidewater in the future since it's so close to home, but I currently have a one year plan with Banfield. (Since they were able to get me in quickly, and it saved me some money on the things that needed to be done for my stray, it made sense at the time.) It covers neutering and preventative medicines, plus a 10% discount on other items. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Banfield. I know of one person who is extremely pleased with the care they provide (which is why I went there initially), but was looking for other opinions. I'm (of course) concerned about the neutering process...

thanks.

Yeah, we have Banfield. The ONLY complaint I have with them is they schedule their appointments in 2-hour blocks("Bring them in between 4-6"). They seem very thorough and attentive. And they DON'T come up with "imaginary" problems that "may pop up in the future" to get your money. Glad to recommend them.

I have been using Banfield (Previously Vetsmart) for our family's dogs for over 10 years and have been pleased with their services. I have them in the basic plan (I think - $19.95/mn). Recently, my daughter's dogs had some skin problems and although I did have to pay extra from some of the tests and treatments, I did not have to pay for the Doctor visits and examinations. :yay:

My sister and mom use Banfield in North Carolina. They said the docs are nice, but I'm not sure they're all that happy with the 'plans' they put you on. IMO it's a waste of money for an adult dog, but I guess if you have a young animal that needs everything it might be a good idea. My sister's dog regularly gets swollen anal glands, and she took the dog to Banfield to have them express the glands...the doc told her the dog had cancer, and would probably die soon. :jameo: Well, a few weeks later the "tumor" went away. It was just a swollen anal gland. That's totally the vet's fault, not Banfield's, but it still makes you wonder a little about Banfield.

Well that explains why my appt was supposedly 11:30, but I didn't get in until closer to 12:30. They were really nice though. Thanks!

I got the plan too. Seemed like a good deal since it covers the neutering.

Now that you mention it, many years ago we brought my M-I-L's dog in. Trixie was on her "last legs". They told us up front that the cost for treatment would be prohibitive(Their word). And when they, gently, suggested putting her down; my wife didn't have the heart. They didn't push; they just let us take her home so she could go near the people that loved her. It was that episode that caused us to switch to them with our One-eyed, arthritic, seizure-prone Jack Russell named Lucky.

We do the Banfield plans with our three pugs and have been very happy with them. They're very busy but we never get the impression that the doctors are rushed to get to the next room or that they want you out of the room so they can get another customer in there.
