AOC - SAYS U.S. IS 'RUNNING CONCENTRATION CAMPS ON OUR SOUTHERN BORDER'

Watch CNN’s Chris Cuomo Own Himself On AOC’s Nazi Instagram Post

At the top of the video, Cuomo engages in the gaslighting that much of the progressive press did yesterday, contorting themselves to suggest that the terms “concentration camps,” and “Never Again,” have nothing to do with Nazis. Steve Cortes made the blatantly obvious point that AOC was talking about the Holocaust, which, let’s be honest, everybody knows.

To this, Cuomo quipped, “You did not have similar problems with the term, America first, which is equally stained.” Presumably, this was a reference to Hitler’s propensity towards praising the United States, democracy, and liberty, which never happened. Cuomo goes on to say that the term nationalism is similarly stained, and Nazi sympathizer Steve Cortes refuses to denounce it.

So, here’s the thing on this—the thing that Cuomo didn’t realize was crumbing his play. By suggesting that the terms “nationalism,” and “America first” are irredeemably connected to Nazism, he absolutely conceded to Cortes’ point regarding the term “concentration camp.” There is no universe in which the first two terms are more associated with Nazis than the latter.

It’s not terribly surprising that Cuomo would engage in this kind of gaslighting, but it is surprising that he thinks anyone will actually believe this abject nonsense. Cuomo casts himself as a straight shooter who calls out both sides. And in fairness, from time to time he is, but last night he was most definitely not. Had Donald Trump or any other Republican compared Nancy Pelosi to Nazis in an absolutely obvious way, and a conservative guest suggested he didn’t, there would have been a 10-minute tirade about apples and bananas and how CNN won’t stand for that.

Now we're playing semantics. Most concentration camps were, in actual operation, death camps. Perhaps not direct execution, but reduced calories, horrible living/working conditions, etc. made the net effect the same.

Let's post what Auschwitz had to say to your argument. This tweet and following ones you can look up set the record straight:

Bottom line, AOC stepped on it big time and instead of putting down the shovel she continued to dig deeper. That she has had so many apologists for this "insensitivity" is appalling.

Hey dummy, auschwitz was a death camp. There were many others that were factory camps or interment camps.

Someone been reading my posts? :)

" I am not buying it, she wants to have her cake and eat it to. She wants to dog whistle the Holocaust but not actually say it. Bullsh&. "
If there is one thing Trumpers are experts on it is listening to dog whistles.

Many people mistakenly believe that asylum seekers have a right to apply for asylum in the United States.

The first paragraph in the Immigration and Nationality Act’s (INA) asylum provisions provides that aliens physically present in the United States “may” apply for asylum.

But the second paragraph provides the following three exceptions, and asylum may be denied on the basis of disqualifying conduct, such as having been convicted of a particularly serious crime.

  • Safe third country. – Asylum is not available to an alien who can be sent pursuant to a bilateral or multilateral agreement to a country where he will not be persecuted, other than the country of the alien's nationality; and where he will have access to a full and fair procedure for determining an asylum claim or equivalent protection. An exception is permitted when it is in the public interest for the alien to receive asylum in the United States.
  • Time limit. – An alien has to file his asylum application within one year after the date of his arrival in the United States unless he can show a change in circumstances.
  • Previous asylum applications. – Asylum is not available to an alien who has filed a previous application that was denied, unless he can show a change in circumstances.
The third paragraph says no court shall have jurisdiction to review any determination on the exceptions.

Asylum “may” be granted to an eligible alien who has established a well-founded fear of persecution on account of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion.

An asylum grant does not convey a right to remain permanently in the United States. It can be terminated if conditions in his country change and it is safe for him to return, and asylees also can be removed to a safe third country.

Let's pretend that the idiotic position this was not a reference to Nazi concentration camps is somehow, despite how incredibly far-fetched, correct.

Let's say that she was comparing them to the Democrat-created Japanese internment camps.

THAT'S a ludicrous statement, too.

I always believed them to be Work to Death Camps. Weren't work camps like prison camps in the South.?

You know, Cool Hand Luke types.

Few? Eight is a bit more than a few. And these eight only accounted for half the victims. All the camps were death camps. Only these eight had death as the primary purpose.

Do you know how many the were killed by the einsatzgrupene? How about over 2 million. Add that to the half that died at actual death camps and your arguement fails.

If you want to niggle over the meaning of the word ‘few’ you should educate yourself on the big picture. As I said, there were many camps that were work camps, but there were only a few actual death camps.

Hey dummy, auschwitz was a death camp. There were many others that were factory camps or interment camps.
Why is it then that "Arbeit Macht Frei" was prominently featured at the camp entrance?

As I said, there were many camps that were work camps, but there were only a few actual death camps.
And as I said, you're playing a bad game of semantics. If you want to go by the designation of the camp, fine. But in actual practice there was little difference between the two other than scale as work camps were essentially death camps. The entire KonzLager system was one where leaving it alive was a very long shot. Are you trying to make the point that those at the work camps could have taken solace in the fact they weren't at one of the "few actual death camps"?

If there is one thing Trumpers are experts on it is listening to dog whistles.

God damn you people get wound up about stupid crap.
LOL. You get called on your comments causing you to curl up and complain about Trumpers responding to dog whistles and getting wound up? Passive-aggressive much?

It’s not semantics, it’s reality. A person chosen to be sent to a work camp had a much higher chance of surviving than a person sent to a death camp. The Nazis had a system, and it included using able bodied workers to propel the war machine.
Saying all camps were death camps because people died there is like saying a cold is the same as aids.

A person sent to a work camp should have been relieved? I would disagree, because while...
The Nazis had a system, and it included using able bodied workers to propel the war machine.
The able-bodied worker would eventually become not able-bodied due to the starvation diet fed to them and the work conditions they were subjected to.

Saying all camps were death camps because people died there is like saying a cold is the same as aids.
For the person that dies of a cold it is just as severe as AIDS.

But more to the point, are you really going to say that the conditions of a work camp were such that it was the totalitarian equivalent of a cold? If so, then I understand why you've taken the position you have regarding AOC's comments.

YAY!!!! Got sent to a work camp, where my chances of survival are much better than those of a death camp. Because 30% is much greater than 0%. Yay me!!!!!!

Maybe it's just me, but comparing that to a place where your chances of death by anything other than an illness you entered the camp with is pretty stupid.

The biggest idiot in Congress drove a dump truck full of flaming toxic waste off a cliff, and most of the left leaped into the void after her yelling "Auschwitz wasn't so bad!" and "Never Again has nothing to do with the Holocaust!" on the day Trump launched his re-election bid.

It was the slowest pitch Democrats could have tossed over home plate when Trump stepped up to bat. He couldn't have orchestrated a better launch if he could have hypnotized Dems into doing whatever he wanted.

The Dems played perfectly into Trump's pitch as the only defense Middle America has against a gang of raging left-wing kooks. The public knows the Dems are trying to erase the southern border and they don't want that.

The Dems are taking a lot of pressure off Trump from the right, where there is some disappointment with his effectiveness on border security. He might have had an enthusiasm problem there, but Dems just helpfully fixed it for him.
This was the funniest line from that link, because it described the left in general, but our resident takers perfectly:
"Trump will gleefully goad the vile idiots into shooting off their mouths again."

We see it every single day around here.

I’ll take 30% chance of living over 0% any day. But you just pulled that number out of your ass anyway.

Good thing she was comparing the boarder camps to the Japanese interment camps then.

I didn’t say relieved.

It’s an analogy. Look the term up. If you think a cold and aids are the same you are retarded.

Even MSNBC Slams Ocasio-Cortez For Her ‘Concentration Camp’ Remarks. Ocasio-Cortez Responds By Lying.

"She just did the people there a tremendous disservice," Todd said. "Be careful comparing them to Nazi concentration camps because they’re not at all comparable in the slightest."

"She tried to make a distinction between concentration camps and Nazi death camps,” Todd continued. "But Congresswoman, tens of thousands were also brutalized, starved, and ultimately died in those concentration camps."

Todd correctly noted that immigration detention facilities are "not at all comparable" to "Nazi concentration camps."

"Some Democrats have been reluctant to condemn her remarks, they don't want to get criticized on Twitter," Todd added. "Why are we so sheepish calling out people we agree with politically these days?"
