AOC’s Opposition To Beds For Migrant Kids Is Callous And Cruel

In a tweet this afternoon, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D–N.Y.) praised workers at Wayfair for calling on the company to stop selling beds to entities housing children at the border. Apparently tomorrow some employees are prepared to stage a walk-out rather than help children have a decent bed to sleep in. AOC said in her tweet that “this is what solidarity looks like.”

Her position should come as no surprise as she spent much of last night and today arguing against a new funding bill that would alleviate the suffering of children on the border that has arisen from the migration crisis. Ever the pebble in Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s shoe, Ocasio-Cortez has been riling up progressive Democrats to stop the funding, even though it certainly means that current conditions will not be ameliorated.

Her logic is cold, callous, calculated and cruel; rather than compromise in the slightest with the Trump administration, AOC would see children harmed so that Trump gets a black eye and the crisis gets worse. But why? Why would someone who claims to be horrified by the situation not want to help fix it? The answer appears to be that AOC rejects any effort to stop anyone from simply entering the country. To her there is no crisis, we should simply abandon the idea of a wall and replace it with turnstiles.

“We believe the current actions of the United States and their contractors at the Southern border do not represent an ethical business partnership Wayfair should choose to be a part of,” the letter signed by 547 employees said.

Through a contract with BCFS Health and Human Services, a Texas not-for-profit organization, Wayfair sold $200,000 worth of bedroom furniture to furnish a camp in Carrizo Springs, Texas, where up to 3,000 migrant children will be detained, employees said.

The protest comes as the US government and Trump administration has come under fire for poor conditions at border facilities and the deaths of at least six children.

It does seems a little to walk out because these kids need a bad to sleep in.
What do they expect these kids to do if no one sells the Government beds?

Sleep on the floor?

Dems don’t make sense. They serve way too much kool-aid at their functions/dysfunctions. Lobotomies have been free for a while, now. I do like your spelling error. It’s fittin’.

They want the kids (and the adults) simply released. Don't catch 'em, don't stop 'em, don't require them to show up for adjudication of their claims - simply let them all in undocumented. Remove the documentation requirement completely.

That's their point.

That's exactly it, but it might be nice if somehow the idea would get out there that they want to DEPRIVE kids of a bed
to sleep on.

We have detention centers which are forced to handle far more people than it can handle, because of laws
for how people are processed and so forth. They don't have the funding, so they can't build a bunch of Motel 6
level accommodations - and the Democrat's solution is, eff you, nothing. The government wants to buy beds for the
kids, and the Dem's response is, don't give 'em nothing, but make sure you have a picture of you crying over their
plight (wear no run makeup so you don't look bad). One Dem wants to make it so there's no such thing as entering
illegally.

BTW - here's something no one has mentioned - they're sleeping on concrete floors inside a shelter with chain link
fences; any guesses what they were sleeping on for the weeks and months prior to reaching the border? The Hilton?
Now, if you live in a Hollywood mansion or a DC brownstone, this is - deplorable. Do you want to know WHY we have
so many at the border? Because they're getting IN. It's that simple. Give something away and people will line up.
Heck, people lined up for days - in the rain - to listen to Trump. You think people won't give all their money to
human traffickers, trudge for miles and cross the Rio Grande - sometimes treacherous - and wait in a detention center -
to get in?

Our current system is ringing the dinner bell, and not just to Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras - we are now getting
people from over 50 countries pouring through, because the word is out - you WILL get in.

What happens to the lines at the stadium when they say "SOLD OUT"? They go home. Maybe they tailgate, but the line
goes away.

You want to stop them from making the dangerous trip here? Close the door.

That is EXACTLY what it is too.

They want the image of them sleeping on the concrete floor as a cudgel for the election cycle. The children are less important to leftists than manipulating the situation for political gain.
