Apple Ipod

4-5 months ago i bought a used Apple iPod M9244LLA 3rd Gen. 20GB MP3 Player through amazon.com. no problems till last night.
Last night i get to the gym, had my ipod set to hear my playlist. push ok to hear my first song and the ipod skips through my songs till the last one. look at the settings, everything was turned off. i go back to hear other songs on my playlist and the same thing happened. turned off/on and same thing. there is no sound. just skips to each song like every 2-3 seconds. has this happen to anybody else?
what can i do to fix this problem? i was so frustrated last night.

next time you plug it into your computer, Try restoring the defaults on the main sync page of itunes. This will delete everything off and then reload all of your songs back on your iPod. let me know if that fixes the problem. also, make sure the newest software is up to date

Your files are corrupt. The good news is you are only going to lose you songs that are on the ipod now. Hopefully they are all still on your itunes at home. My nano crapped out just as you are describing and the only cure was to resync and lose the few songs that were not on my itunes. (I had switched computers and when I switched I didnt bring all songs with me)

What are you are describing is exactly what happened to me about a month ago. My nano has played and worked fine since I took the corrupt songs off and put my itunes music that I did have back on.

Good luck.

PS - anyone want to explain again how to move songs off the ipod on to the computer - it would be appreciated. I cant get it to open, and I cant find it in the E-drive when I search for it when I plug it in to the usb. Not sure what Im doing wrong?

I'm not sure if you're able to. That's the main complaint I've had about them. You swap computers and you have to use a backup HD instead of being able to use the iPod. dunno why they did that except maybe to prevent file sharing...

i used a program called iDump. My Gen5 80gb had all of my music and downloaded tv shows and iDump took all of that and put it in itunes on my new computer. much easier than using an external.

I've done this in the past. I'd have to look up on the internet how exactly to do it again, but if you plug your ipod into your computer, when you go into the ipod drive, show hidden files. :yay:

:yay: Just make sure you don't sync it to the new computer first because it will erase everything  And if you do it this way, the file names should all be weird (letter/number combinations), but if you're copying everything then it doesn't really matter  It's just apple's way of preventing file sharing or something, because you can't tell which song is which except for on the ipod (or in itunes).

how do you prevent the ipod from synching to the new computer? disable autoplay on your drives or something? as soon as I popped that thing up it started to synch on a new computer. maybe I had itunes open or something.

i thought i displayed hidden files on my old computer but maybe i didn't. i'll have to look into this stuff since i haven't put my ipod up to my "new" computer yet...

Autoplay won't do it, but there is a place in Itunes (I think on the main page  maybe not) where you can enable/disable auto-sync every time the ipod is hooked to the computer :yay: disable that.
