1. how can you call it perfect, when your choice of tequila is Cuervo

2. there's only 5 1/2 oz. of liquid, that's put in a 16 to 20 oz. glass, guess what fills the void?

3. sour mix should not be included in a perfect margarita.

Read for comprehension. OR 1800

Why are you using such a big glass?

What do you use instead of sour mix?

No, none of the above are what's wrong with the recipe.

I'm probably missing something but this is how I make a basic margarita:
Rim the glass with a lime peel
Dip in coarse salt
Fill a shaker almost full of ice
Add 1 1/2 oz tequila
Add 3/4 oz triple sec (which is Cointreau)
Add 2 oz of sour mix
Add a splash of Rose's lime juice
Shake well or blend
Pour in glass and garnish

When I have heard of using Grand Mariner, but it usually replaces the triple sec. But then again, everybody works off a basic recipe and adds their own twists.

I also like to add a splash of Chambord for myself. Cuts the bitterness for me and makes it almost a raspberry rita.

And to everybody who is complaining about the ounces in their drinks - most basic bar drinks are only 1 oz to 1 1/2 oz alcohol - no matter the glass size unless you ask for a double.

Grand Marnier and Cointreau are both orange base. Must be a revenue thing.

Anyhow, FB is making them at home tonight.

1. Not enough of the right tequila. At least 2 oz. of Cabo is the minimum.
2. Skip the extra orange liquor. 1.5 oz. of Cointeau should do.
3. NO sour mix!! Use a margie-rita mix like if you have to or else Rose's sweetened lime juice.
4. Course salt on the rim
5. Extra for the rest of us!!

Shaken Visciously!!
That's one of my fave drinks!!

We did use the margarita mix instead of sour or lime juice. They were good. I don't think I"d like 2 oz of tequila, though. For me, it ruins the taste of the margarita.

Who needs the tequila all dressed up.....salt shaker and lemon wedge....:yum:

People do shots to get drunk, and drink cocktails to enjoy the flavor.

Not ALL people that do shots get drunk........If I want to be social and enjoy something, give me a beer and I am happy.

Then what's the point in doing shots at all?

Some shots are flavorful......a lemon drop, goldshlager (spelling sucks), jager, jager bomb, blow job, buttery nipple, ect.....

You like your margaritas....I will take my shots and beer.

I have a tendency to drink extra strong drinks. I love the taste of tequila and whiskey, so you can often hear me say, "Make mine a double."
When I first made a drink, at the tender age of nine, for my uncles at card parties, I was told that half and half was perfect. It's something I still do today, without even thinking about it. Of course, after bartending for a few years, one learns the look of a person who can handle a drink.
I also love to drink shots, but then, I'm a lush and I'm not in denial, so it's all good.
