I promised oldest pig we'd make candy apples tonight. I bought a really cute kit from JoAnn's over the weekend for them. Are good local apples out yet? If so where?

They're in all the grocery stores and flea markets.

:buttkick: I said local which I've never seen in any store other that McKay's. My apples from Food Lion come from Washington.

Hey Pixie! I wish I could offer my apples, but my trees caught some funk this year and none of the fruit developed!
I'm making candy apples for all the horses at my farm, in honor of Lou's birthday!

Washington is only 48 miles away, how much closer is "local"?

I don't think they're local and she's looking for local. I've give you the same :buttkick: I got.

:lmao:  There's that one produce stand on 235 close to you. I'll try there on my way home. If not they get Food Lion apples.

B got cider the other day from a place in Prince Frederick but I'm not going to PF. That would be a long ride, St. Inigoes to Lusby to PF then back to Lusby.

Ooooh, Pixie...you know who has great cider (and apples)? That farm in Clinton, dang I can't remember the name. They hold wagon rides and pumpkin picking for everyone and admission is only like $5 a person. They have a cute little store that opens early and they make fresh, homemade doughnuts and apple pie ice cream. I love going in October and I stock up on lots of goodies. :yum:

Forrest Hall Farm has a really nice building where they sell local produce. Monday, when I was last there, they had many, many apples. They also have a corn maze. Their corn maze was flattened by Ernesto, so they're building a new one now. I don't know if the new maze is finished. The number is 301-884-3086. The farm is on Route 5 in Mechanicsville.

Thanks! That's the place I was talking about in an earlier post (being on the way to fd's house). I loved that place when I lived in Mechanicsville! Great apples!

I like apples. I used to eat Fujis, but recently, I switched to Galas. I am quite pleased.
