Looks as though my dishwasher maybe in need of a service call (out of warranty) its a Asko brand that was installed new when the kitchen was remodeled several years ago, Asko webpage shows a couple of repair places in Calvert, Tracey's and Metropolitan that work on this brand, any comments good or bad about these two places. Thanks

So far I haven't figure them out. The other niight before we went to sleep the Mrs. loaded it up and started it and we went to bed, in the morning when I got up to go to work,(5am) was in the kitchen and heard a strange noise sounded like motor running at first (not too loud of a noise) thought it was the refrig, but it wasnt, opened door to dishwasher and the noise stopped. When I emptied yesterday some of the dishes were still not completely cleaned. Last night loaded it and started it and about halfway through the cycle a family member said somethings smells like its burning, I was having a heard time smelling it, but we opened the door to stop it and could not see anything out of the ordinary, we going to start it again tonight and babysit it and watch it go through its cycles so tomorrow I might have some more info unless the house goes up in flames, then I wont need a appliance repair man.

Tracy's is great (Don't know about metropolitan). Hubby and I just finished building a new house. Our oven didn't work when we moved in (it worked, but it didn't work correctly). We still had the warranty, obviously, since it was brand new. We called the place we bought it from and they referred us to Tracy's. They came out immediately (the next day i think) and fixed it all up, free of charge of course. And, the dude explained to us what was wrong, in case it ever happened again so we could fix it ourselves. :yay:

Call Sears. 800-465-4663 They service most brands now. We've used them for both a dishwasher and fridge. Dishwasher was cheaper to buy a new one then fix. We recieved a coupon (can't remember the amount 50 or 65) off a new one from Sears from the repair person.

Fridge went on the blink last month. Again. Again sears came out-very reasonable repair. This time I also bought a 2 yr warranty on it. It's been a lemon since day one and we aren't ready to spend $$$ on a new one yet since this is only 5 years old.

good luck!

You need to use a dishwasher at least twice per week or the motor will dry out. Not sure where you are located, but I called P&W Appliance when mine died. They came out and looked at it. The same guy came back the next day to install the replacement when my original model couldn't be fixed. They also gave me credit for part of the service call since I bought the replacement dishwasher from them. Good local business!

Sorry DoWhat, the Mrs and I kind of dosed off after dinner last night and didnot get to check it out.
Id say the dishwasher runs about 3 times a week, so I dont think its a problem with the motor drying out.

Motor dry out? Are you sure you aren't talking about the pump. Motor is electrical and probably would die quick if it got wet. Now if the pump's impellers dry out then I could see that leading to a problem.

Good point. I think it may be a fully contained pump and motor assembly though. I'm no appliance repairman, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!

So if I go on vacation I can plan on replacing the motor (pump) when I get back? Somehow that just doesn't sound right.

Sorry - my point wasn't meant to be literal. If you have a dishwasher, use it. The repairman recommended several times per week to keep the pump seals lubricated. Enjoy your vacation...
